This is from Monday's Times.

Now, I understand that an opinion piece is generally not going to show much objectivity, but this is nothing more than promotion of agenda and self-righteousness. As a "rank and file" Democrat, this crap just burns me up. Sure Geraldine, let's go with your plan and divide the party, and while we're at it, why don't we lose another election in a landslide?

It worked. In 1984 I headed the party’s platform committee. We produced the longest platform in Democratic history, a document that stated the party’s principles in broad terms that neither the most liberal nor the most conservative elected officials would denounce. It generated no fights at the convention. It was a document that no one would walk away from. We lost in 1984, big time. But that loss had nothing to do with Democratic Party infighting.

Big party platform = big gov't expansion

But the superdelegates were created to lead, not to follow. They were, and are, expected to determine what is best for our party and best for the country. I would hope that is why many superdelegates have already chosen a candidate to support.

If this doesn't illustrate the Democrats' condescending attitude towards the people they serve, nothing will. The voters are too dumb/stupid to make the right decisions...

I can't believe this garbage was even printed. Maybe she doesn't remember the 2000 election?

She only feels that way because the super-delegates were her brain-child. There are plenty of Democrats out there, even those that hold the SD title, that think letting the SDs decide this thing is a horrible idea. This is why we are starting to see defections.

There is really convoluted logic in there - supers are given to party leaders and they should be the deciders but then she argues to seat Fla and Mich to make sure the individual voters are heard.

What a load.

I live it when the Dems do the work for you... this pretty much sums up a great deal of the libs attitude.

If she's a slut, there are some hard up guys running around out there.

Or maybe, just Kerry style gold-diggers. That's a heavy price to pay for some cash.

It appears to me the dems are becoming increasingly divided. Hillary is taking shots at Obama, and vice versa. A house divided amongst itself cannot stand. They keep this up and it will be a landslide victory for the republicans despite W's utter destruction of any credibility and respect that the GOP has. Personally I like Huckabee, but he won't get the nomination. We are faced again with the choice of the lesser of the evils instead of who is the best for the job. Pick your poison.

no it doesn't

I agree but just remember that when someone tells you conservatives don't care about poor people.

It's surprising at times how consistent the end goals are but the difference lies in the pathway to the goal.

Mark my words, they will tear themselves apart at the convention, but in the end, they will all come together against whoever the GOP nominee is (McCain).

The libs that are in politics, yes it does... do you think she's the only one like that?

no, but unfortunately there are those on both sides that seem to be blinded to the shortcomings of people who represent their line of thinking.
