I agree, watched him play my high school, McMinn County. You could see his speed when he got outside but for some reason CPF used him as a 3yrds and a cloud of dust back.

Wait, wait, wait ... you mean Fulmer didn't develop his talent and play to his strong suits when he played here? Well I don't believe that... When did that ever happen?

He is awful on the radio. He's on Sporttalk in Chattanooga during football season on Thursday's. He repeats himself/stutters.

"The running back, he uh, uh uh uh, he he he he made a great catch."

This goes on, over and over, for three hours.

Hopefully, he will do better on tv.

alot of athletes aren't great public speakers.

Go find - it's either Jabari Davis or Cedric Houston - 's interview after the Miami game in 2003.

Pretty much comes to "Coach told us to run hard, so we ran hard"

Well said!!
Gerald is a class guy, and I am proud to know him personally and wish him the best. He will do a great job. I hope it leads to bigger and better things for G. he deserves it. Good luck Gerald<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

Class guy? Yeah right, I worked for the athletic dept while I was a student and he was one of the bigger punks I had to deal with along with Jabari Davis and Ron Slay.

I knew g riggs would never make the pros, any player that takes 3 years to learn the blocking assignments at UT doesn't have a chance in the pros.

Being from Chattanooga, I have hung out with Gerald on quite a few occasions. He is the easiest person to talk with and give you insight on current Vols players. He'd rather talk football at the table over a beer then act like a superstar thug. It's too bad CPF had him run it up the middle 25 times a game, bc he made a name for himself in high school on the toss sweep.

Yeah, look who his coaches were!

Those guys aren't doing public speaking gigs.

I disagree with this post. I enjoy his Thursday segments. He was not the most polished of radio speakers...but he has gotten a lot better and adds value to the show.

G-Riggs is one of the more intellectual backs I have covered, and he was plenty talented.

I believe he was headed for the NFL and a high draft status before his injury his senior year.

Was he perfect at UT? Heck no, few of them are -- Gerald would probably be the first to tell you he should have worked harder.

But people grow up. G-Riggs always struck me as a good guy at heart, and I wouldn't judge him on how he was as a 19 year old anymore than I think any of us would want to be judged from those years....

If he's doing a good job and making all his scheduled appearances, which I'm sure he is, let the petty college stuff go

Good to hear he's doing well,

Good God, You make it sound like he is doing community service. Gerald is a descent guy, but anybody pretending that his football career was not an underachievement is sorely mistaken. Most kids would kill for the talent he had, but he let his own ego get in the way. I wish him the best, but it is sad to see him doing sideline reporting for a local rag news station when he had talent that, if he only applied, would have had him in the NFL.
