I'm checking out Gerald Riggs on the NFL Network. There's a NFL Europe game on and he's playing for the Rhein Fire. Not much going on, but he definitley has a pop in his step. So I would say that his injury has completely healed and is not a factor. Maybe the Dolphins will at least give hime a look at the backup RB spot.

The Dolphins may as well give him a shot, considering Ricky Marley is not likely to contribute... Not that they were counting on him to do anything, anyways.

Even so, how can someone like a RB be expected to play a season in NFL Europe and then go straight to playing a season in the NFL. It seems as though their body would be too worn down to compete with guys that are starting off fresh from an offseason.

I think Jarrett Payton did OK when he did that for the Titans a few years ago. He was the third string guy, so he didnt' get all that many carries. That's the role I'd expect Riggs to fill.

Payton who? Yea, that is how well he did.

I don't see Gerald being a superstar either. At this point, getting to play a year on an NFL roster would be moderate success for him. It was a success for Jarrett, too. He was a lot like Riggs. Supposedly he was going to be a stud at Miami, but he was pretty disappointing. He had some success in NFL Europe and managed to get on an NFL roster for a bit. That's pretty good for a guy that wasn't special in college.

he has 27 carries for 60 yards on the season so far. Thats pretty bad numbers.

I think NFL Europe is only 7 or 8 games.

I hope Riggs know how to sell insurance. Maybe he can call Rick Clausen.
