Gerald Jones Going T.O.?

I can't believe no one is talking about it. After a failed 3rd down where Crompton threw a bad pass to another reciever along the East sideline, Gerald Jones was visibly upset and frustrated. I don't know if it was at Crompton for the bad pass, at Crompton for not passing the ball to him, or at Kiffin for the playcall. Everyone one else had made it off the field but Jones was still about 10 yards in the field when he took his helmet off and started shouting Kiffin's way. It got Kiffin's attention and he sprited Jones way and got in his face. The two had words and Jones had to be pulled back by a couple of players and assistant coaches. I was shocked to see him back in the game a couple of series later. He was the last person to head to the locker room after the game last night and you could tell he was upset. Does anybody have any more information on this?

read this on another board and I watched the game, but didnt see this. Thoughts?

Well, why wouldn't he be frustrated? Did a wideout catch a pass in the game? I think we had 12 completions, or so, and all but one or two were to the backs.

I saw them talking to each other on the sidelines, looked heated. For some reason Jones and Crompton can't get on the same page. I get the feeling they may not like each other too much.

Hate to say it -- but Jones is feeling about Cromptom the same as most people on this board.

If this is true, CLK should sit Jones the rest of the year. He has been a non-factor in the receiving game this year to date. GJ has rested on his laurels since the 2007 UK-UT 51-50 shoot-out.

He could have been a factor had we had a QB that can spot an open reciever rather than throw into double coverage. Jones has been open at times and crompton has overthrown him or just never seen him because he's (crompton) just not that good. Crompton is quite possibly THE worst QB i have ever seen play.

I know this is wrong because G Jones was the first person to the tunnel. I sit in sec Y7 and I noticed as soon as the game was over he sprinted to the locker and didn't talk to anyone.

I really like G Jones, im a big fan
but he has really had some knucklehead plays this year.
Hope he can get it together some young talent on the field and more waiting to come in

Poor G. He is a competitor and he is stuck with QB who does not even consistently miss his throws. He is high, he is low. He is late, he is early. He throws picks, he fumbles.

I would be pissed. If none of the WR are pissed, they must know that Stephens is even worse.

Got to be the dumbest post I've read all year. He has been a non-factor because we don't have a quarterback that can get him the ball.

The timing between JC and GJ is off considerably probably due to GJ being injured alot thru fall camp. If GJ did do this Kiffin should sit him on the bench and let the other guys play. It is not like we are going to be throwing alot downfield anyways and the negativity is not good for the team. Personally I have never thought GJ was as good as some here make him out to be, he drops alot of catchable balls.

i dont blame him for being upset. wouldnt you be, if you were wide open half the time and not being seen or he over or under throws you the ball.maybe kiffin will take notice that now even the players have had enough of crompton.but heck our back up isnt even that good,but hey throw him in there and find out,you never know what could happen.

Honestly, I don't care if he's upset or not. He needs to sit his butt back down on the bench when the drive is over. Crompton sucks and everyone knows it, but just like the rest of the pro-Stephens community Jones himself should also know that yanking Crompton and going with Stephens isn't going to all of a sudden turn us into an offensive juggernaut.

We are currently an inept passing offense and it's going to be that way as long as my calendar says 2009 on it.

This sounds about right. Jones is a loud mouth. He's been making excuses. For instance, last week he said Crompton should have hit him on his route earlier and it would have been a TD. Then he was telling Florida the year before it was going to be a war. He hasn't produced against any of the big teams and I'd be surprised if he did. He's really not that good and more than tad bit overrated. I'm tired of his bad attitude and hope we bench him. I'm to the point where I would play A. Rogers ahead of him. Yeah I would play AR ahead of this little big-mouth player.

Jones did yell at Kiffin when he was coming off the field. Kiffin took his headset off and ran to Jones and got in his face. Jones went to the bench and threw his helmet down and had several players try and calm him down. He remained upset the rest of the game and I was shocked to see him back in the game.

Nothing like an unsubstantiated rumor to start the week.

Did anyone else see Fulmer and Kiffin get into the fist fight in the tunnel before the game? Crompton's Dad got involved and was escorted out.

Is he wrong about Crompton hitting him for the TD earlier? I think he has every right to be upset with the way the O is playing.

That and hes been injured a great deal of the spring and fall.

As for the meltdown, I dont know I wasnt there but I remember when I was watching on 360 that I saw Gerald sitting on the bench and he looked pissed/dejected to me and I had no idea this had happened.

Are you insane? Seriously, are you insane? Jones came here to win, that's why you come to UT. We have wasted his career, along with Berry, on trying to bring this idiot Crompton along. He's tired of it, he's tired of having the greatest opportunity of his lifetime wasted because of some freakin' moron that couldn't throw a football in water from a boat. Put it this way, this entire fanbase is tired of it, and we're not the ones wasting our careers! I don't blame him one bit, I don't blame any of the players for getting upset. I'm all for a team attitude and bringing everyone up to speed, but at some point you have to cut ties with these idiots and give someone else a shot at winning. DO IT FOR THE OTHER PLAYERS ON THE TEAM, THEY WANT TO WIN TOO.

Hell, we had to use him at QB last year just to have even a remote chance of coming close to winning. But yeah, it's his fault. It's not Crompton, it's Gerald Jones. Jones made him throw all of those interceptions, as well as miss receivers consistently.

How do you function in society? You should be in a padded room under surveillance 24 hours a day. Do yourself a favor, understand what the hell is going on before you begin to speak.
