Gerald Hodges - Current PSU Player

Unfortunately for the PSU players who choose to transfer, they do not have much time to act. If they want to see any playing time this year on another team, they have to decide quickly and get moved. Fall practice starts soon and game time is just over a month away.

This is correct. Why would a senior want to transfer? Not only from a time standpoint, but the only downside for 2012 is no bowl game. They can play this year out, win some games, get or work toward their degree without worrying about transferring credits or go to the league. A junior is pretty much in the same boat. He would be 2 years without a bowl.

The only ones to make sense to transfer are maybe sophomores or freshmen, plus any commits they have now.

I say offer the srs and jrs because we have nothing to lose, but I don't believe there is much hope in getting them.

Who said it wasnt being counted. If we have 82 scholarship then he makes 83 and it changes nothing as far as our signing class. The only time it would is if we went over 85.

I agree with what you are saying. I was just saying if we go over our limit then we have to count it against next year even if he is a senior.

I bet a lot of those jrs and srs transfer and with good reason. We shall see.

Somebody needs to take a chill pill. 450 posts in 3 years and most of them going off about the 85 scholarship rule in this thread.

I dont see Hodges leaving PSU. You never know though. Terrible situation for these kids. They have like zero time to make a decision. If they are planning on transferring every day sets them back more and more.

Hodges earned first-team All-Big Ten honors last season and was nominated to the Butkus Award watchlist for 2012. He is expected to be one of the first linebackers off the board in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Say somehow we get this kid, who would get benched at LB? I think our 4 would be Maggit, Lathers, Johnson and this kid.
