Georgia Tech with a message to Tennessee....

That's me, and no I'm not trolling lol. I've actually had decent talks with people on this board. I'm just trying to give formative information about cut blocks because it gets old hearing the same thing over and over again when pretty much evey team does them. If UT players can get injured from it so can GT players. So, comments saying we hope we stay healthy, it's dirty etc is ridiculous, when the people who complain about it don't even know their own team does it. Almost every fan base we play says it though, if not every.

I know that most every team does it, but not every team has acquired the reputation of doing it son often and hurting players form the other team because of them. I will say the UGa has done it in the past and some Tennessee players have been injured and carriers have been shortened by those blocks. Vanderbilt, under Franklin, was also had a reputation of trying to hurt defensive linemen with their cut blocks.

I can agree with this. And I'm fine with that thinking the part I don't like it when people are uneducated and know nothing about it yet they still want to complain about it.
yeah, and the other thing to consider is your defense practices against those guys all the time, so when they do see it, i'd say they're probably equipped to deal with it.

we played air force several years ago, and it was relentless watching those little guys cut our DL down.

personally, i don't like it. but i get it.

as for complaining...wait til the first DL hobbles off the field....

Tech might be 3-0 versus the SEC, but after the Tech game we'll be leading the SEC EAST.

That's a pretty good point. Let's just hope there are no injuries for either team.

I know, I'm hoping GT practices for cut blocks as well. I don't want our players getting hurt from UT cut blocks either.

Since the other posters have "cut' straight to the point about GT doing it all the time vs a team like UT who might have a play or situation that calls for it, I'm gonna take it you understand my point. We had one of our best players injured that way and it gets under our skin. So when I saw the practice video of our guys practicing defending it, I was very happy. And you can see, I didn't wish us hurting any GT players, just keeping their faces in the turf the entire game because we've practiced it. I never wish injuries for either team.

Yea, that was from the Uga game right? That was a different situation than what GT does because he started blocking high and then cut because he was getting beat. but I %100 get your concern from that, and I understand you don't wish injuries. Hopefully it's a clean hard fought game.

I was over at the GT board and a lot of posters there are really good with the hillbilly and inbred talk...I just want to experience a good, clean game from what used to be a good rivalry back in the day. Best wishes:hi:

It was one of the most storied rivalrys in the nation back in the day. My Dad took my brother and I to the 1956 game at Grant Field in Atlanta when I was 11. We saw a guy roaming through the pregame crowd waving two $100 bills begging for two tickets together anywhere in the stadium. We stopped and watched until he went out of sight. No takers. Vols won 6 - 0. Johnny Majors was the single-wing tailback. For many, many years, the College Football Writers Association deemed it the best college football game ever played. Coach Bobby Dodd was very vocal in how much he relished beating Tennesse every year.

I wish I could of experienced the games of that era. They have always intrigued me since I was a kid and my pappaw would tell me stories of them. Now as an adult and doing the research from the games from the days gone by, it just reinforced the awe of how awesome those players and coaches truly were.

It was truly one of the great ones, catss. Most of the men in the stadium were dressed in coat and ties and I remember seeing more than a few women in mink stoles. At halftime, the PA announced the final score of the Georgia State High School Championship game, which had been played the Friday night before Vols vs GT and Valdosta High had lost. I saw several women crying, mink stoles and all, when the announcement was made. Valdosta won many state titles for years, before and after that.

One of my greatest memories for sure. Back then, lots of people wore their "Sunday best" whether it was to a college football game or flying on a plane. I forgot to mention the hats men wore, my Dad being one of them. Dark fedoras all over the stadium...

Coach Wright Bazemore may have been the greatest high school coach ever.

He was really good and won a lot of championships. However, Maryville had a pretty good coach who also won a bunch of high school games and championships. I think i would Quarles over him. We will see how he does coaching at the college level.

South Georgia football greater than East TN football and it's not even close. He was also winning national championships. 14 state championships 3 national championships in 28 years. Quarles is obviously a great coach as well but competition level is not the same.

There is just something about Maryville that goes beyond talent level. They are not full of 4 and 5 star talent and every season they are going to beat teams that are, at least on paper, more talented than them. Its probably the best football organization I've seen in high school football.

Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson....

“We’re 3-0 in the SEC East and have Tennessee next.” - @GTPaulJohnson

Awfully bold Coach Johnson. Thanks for the bulletin board material.
Well! I'm new here, so I'm going to let it rip. I have a little message for this coach. If everything goes the way I see it, you will not be 4-0 in the SEC EAST. You are going to be 3-1. Coach Johnson, I have faith that you will be regretting this tweet after the game is over. My faith will be, that we will get the job ✅ ✅ done, sending you back to the old drawing board the next day. I wonder if our players know about this tweet? If I'm a player for Tennessee, I say stay quiet, work hard, and get ready throughout the summer and fall to let him know about this tweet. ❤️

He also recruited all of South Ga. to put together his teams. Metro Atlanta high school football has improved so much and South Ga. football has slipped some what in the last 15-20 years. At least that is the way it was in the 1961-1980. I would have no problem picking Quarles over him wth the same talent.
