that sounds about right...i'd say that would be my order as well. except i'd put it more like this:

1. Bama
2. UF
3. UGA
4. LSU - i need to get down to baton rouge
5. Auburn - hate losing to these guys in atlanta
6. Vandy - love watching us beat these guys year after year.
7. SC - S0S and tailgating in columbia is fun
8. Ole Miss - they have a decent team for now, so it may get interesting.
9. Kentucky - it's fun keeping the streak alive, but after they got rid of the beer barrel it was never the same.
10) arkansas - nothing beats the 98' game, but that's about it with these guys.
11) miss state - meh!

Never made it to a road game, save Vandy, if that is a road game. SECCG in 98 was a great trip, all but it being in Atlanta.

I think UGA has become more of a rival in the past 8 or 9 years because they have started beating us....Any time that's beat you a lot recently kind of flairs up a rivalry and asisde from 04/06/07 UGA has beat us like we stole something from them...Especially since some of the Zook years when Florida was kind of down and we were competing with UGA more than UF, I would consider them a rivalry maybe 2(a)Alabama and 2(b)UGA

But South Carolina....Highly doubt they would be considered by any body other than Clemson a rivalry, I know it picked up some when Spurrier signed on there but other than that 1st year its not been that storied

Spurrier is the only reason why SC is a rival, but no more than KY or Vandy over time.

I think if you ask some would argue you could flip flop Bama and UF.....I agree with that list...I guess Florida is more hated to me because I'm younger than some on here :)

There is an argument for both UF/Bama as to who is on top of the list. For me it is Bama. My age, and family have a lot to do with it.

Yeah well I put UF ahead of Bama for now just because I want bragging rights over my friends for a little while but truth is I look at Bama as a bigger rivalry than they are because with Bama its personal:machgun::cool2:

why don't we look at this from our rivals standpoint


1. bama their # is Auburn, then UT
2. Fla. their #1 is GA. and then UT
3. Ga their #1 is Fla, then Auburn, maybe Ga tech and then UT
4. Vandy their #1 is UT, then who knows
5. UK their #1 is UT, then who cares
6 USC their #1 is prob. clempsen and then UT
so on and so on...bottom like is that UT is high on everyones rivals list and every game is tough....love you all

If we start beating our rivals like we did in the 1990s then I we will go up on our rival's lists.

I definitely consider Georgia a rival. Mainly that's because I hate Georgia just about as much as I hate Alabama.
Spurrier is a rival. Nobody cares about South Carolina, though.

I had a dear friend, that has since passed, and there was no bigger UT fan, grad., and most of his family attended too. He never missed a game, back in the 90's I ask him about the Ga. fans and he said they were great. thats is when we were pounding pretty regularly, Later I ask and he said they were no better that Fla fans, just awful, He would say "I hate every dern one of them" he was never one to curse. Still miss him

fla st might have something to say about that. we've really dropped down florida's "big rivals" list the last few years i think....at least in their eyes. if we start beating them again in the next few years that will probably change, but at the moment i think most gator fans would put both ga and fla st ahead of ut in the rivalries category.

Really depends on who you ask. I am old school so for me its:
1. GA tech ( You have to beat your instate rivals)
2a. FL
2b. TN
3. Auburn
4. if we go way back Clemson
5. everyone else

If you live any place close to the Georgia/Tennessee line UGA is a rival. Ask any UTK fan in Chattanooga, most of the dog fans here have been obnoxious since the "hobnail boot".

Oh my gosh... UGA makes me sick. (This coming from someone who goes to Georgia Tech and lives in Atlanta). Every year is a national title year for the "Dawgs"..and I HATE it...absolutely HATE IT when they say "dawgs" instead of "dog". Ugh.

Anyway, I'd rank it like this:

1. Florida (there is something special about that game every year---each team knows that it will almost make or break their season)
2. Alabama (I'm not really as into the Alabama rivalry as fellow Vols fans are--I live in Atlanta so I don't really care about Alabama---but from tradition I'd say they are pretty hated)
3. Georgia--- Where do I start? They want to be Tennessee. The papers talk about UT all of the time--try to measure up with the Vols. UT dominated Georgia in the 90's...what, 9 years in a row? Recent success from UGA (in a couple of games vs UT) has given them some pull in the rivalry but you can always look at two years ago and also the colossal meltdown at Sanford stadium when Ainge, Meachem, and the Vols hung HALF A HUNDRED against those pieces of crap in Athens.

TO HELL WITH GEORGIA!!!!

4. Vanderbilt (weak game, but it's kind of a rivalry---one of those games the Vols shouldn't lose any year)
5. Kentucky--keep the streak alive!
6. South Carolina--kind of like Georgia.. They are a second to third tier team in the SEC. They want to be up there with the UT's and UF's, but can't be and won't be. They might surprise a team or two and play their little hearts out, but they aren't big enough to be a rival. Go play in the ACC (clempsun), USCjr!

South Carolina is not considered a rival to UT. UGA is not really one, but when they were beating us year in and year out at the start of the decade, fans kinda made them into one since they wanted to beat them so bad

Ut's oldest rivals are UK and Vandy. Bama is our main rival. And florida is one of our more bitter rivals.

Fans also claim a name rivalry with texas :)

Bama's the main rival due to such a long, long history of bitterness between the two. Casey Clausen told ESPN or CBS before one of the games (i believe it was 03) that "When I came to Tennessee, I was told that each year, you've got to beat bama" or something like that, I forget the exact quote.
