“Speaking on 97.1 The Fan today, Dave Biddle claimed that Ohio State "missed out" on a five star recruit because they weren't even able to offer him half of what he was looking for in terms of NIL compensation.
Per Biddle, the unnamed player received an offer in the realm of $800k per season to play at Georgia, not including an additional $1.8 million signing bonus. The Buckeyes, on the other hand, could not manage to get him more than $500k. “

Georgia has less money than Tennessee so no I don't believe that. Very few players are getting that kind of money and don't believe a lot of the numbers people are throwing out

If an NFL team outbid another on a player contract, no one bats an eye if they sign with that team. If a college team does it in this day & age of NIL, people complain.

Seems like a risky business, but things will level-out in a few years when there are some big misses on players with sizable NIL deals.

If teams are putting $1.8M as a signing bonus, I sure hope they are protecting themselves with a required # of years to be at the school...otherwise, take the money, stay a year, then leave with $1.8M in your pocket (less taxes)....schools' NIL conglomerates that are just giving this money as signing bonuses are going to lose in the long term.

Georgia really stepped up their football program after Kirby was hired. I live in GA and surrounding by dwag fans and it sucks. The program is night and day compared to Richt's era.
I agree.....they suck. He's definitely not a good coach, but he has the talent that covers up a lot of deficiencies.

If theynset it up properly there will be very little, if any, any taxes taken

I mean, this cuts both ways.

This guy really expect us to believe tOSU-maybe the second or third most profitable CFB team in the land is very limited on NIL $ ?

Somehow, I'm not buying that.

They made an assessment. Very simple. They decided the guy was not worth the asking price. This story is just a CYA maneuver in case the guy wins the Heisman or something.

If Jameson Williams doesn't get hurt, Bama wins this past January and UGA fans all over would still be calling him Mark Richt 2.0.

How does he have talent? Does he recruit it? Is that not part of his job? He’s a great defensive mind, he’s a great recruiter, seems to be a pretty damn good motivator and hires good assistants and lets them do their jobs. All of those are qualities of being a good coach.

Bama does win the national title last year with a healthy JW.
But UGA is FAR better now than they ever were under Richt.
Any Georgia fan saying that would be off base in my opinion.

Yep. I spend about half my time in Suwanee. I wear my Orange proudly but also know I'm always outnumbered.

So let me get this straight. The reigning national champion has to out bid to land a recruit? Are some Vol fans really gullible enough to believe this?

I don't think any player outside of a 5 star QB has close to that kind of value in NIL.

You have to admit that a 1.8 million signing bonus is unwise on a level that might look like a very bad risk, even at college-football-level stupidity.

I would call it next level. Not night and day. N&D would be where we were then going to where they are. They were already hanging around the top 10 every year w Mark Right.
