Georgia now officially investigating paying players

True enough. The world is wide and filled with possibilities.

However, Propst already has the IRS giving him an involuntary colonoscopy. Now is not the time for him to be receiving payoffs. He has no first-hand knowledge since both schools avoid him and his programs, he has no credibility, and he has no leverage.

Much more likely than any illicit payoff is the schools' lawyers telling him to STFU or be ruined worse than he already is.

I can agree to that.

You are partly right, but if you think Tennessee isn’t also reporting out of trying to do the right thing, then you don’t know UT. That’s been a big part of our problem for years. We have people at the University that don’t don’t care about athletics in the least in power positions that have made it damn near impossible to compete with other SEC teams due their desire for UT to be a top 25 public university. It was only a few years ago that we had the strictest requirement for math scores in the SEC. Athletes had an easier time getting admitted to Vanderbilt than UT.

I prefer that UT focuses on being a Top 25 University. It makes my diploma look that much more attractive.

And while I keep hearing that brainless refrain of "You never see 100k show up for a science experiment on Saturdays", you actually do. Without the sciences, football would have been dead in the water a while back. No high end academics, no advances in protection for the players, no advances in technology to help the players perform better, no advances in technology to help us feel like we're at the game when we're at home. And at least half the stadium is medicated in some way. Hell, probably most of the people on this board are medicated in some way.

Excuse academic officials for making academics a priority. How rude of them for saving football from itself.
