Any news on how good this Kid is. I know he attends James Wilhoits kicking school but after that I got nothing. Any chance he beats out Palardy? Once again I don't know the coaching staffs feeling towards Palardy and if Bullock is just a backup guy until Palardy is gone.

He played us on friday night... i think he's a little overhyped based on his performance against us..

If he can't kick a college football 5 yards deep into the endzone 100% of the time then forget it.

Are his field goals and XP off a 2 inch, 1 inch or a 1/2?
If he is using a 2 inch his senior year he is not a college kicker.

Also his kickoffs, if off a 2 inch, then they are meaningless.

I've seen this "addidas ball" issue before. What's the deal with their ball? Just wondering if it's something seriously determined by our coaching staff (and hope working on with addidas) or is it just an excuse thats come up. Thanks.

I believe this is what they are referring to.

Jad was using the the Nike balls that Clemson had provided him while I was using the Wilson GST football. As we started the workout I could see that Jad had a little more "pop" on his field goals than I did.

As the kicking workout continued we backed our way to the 40 yard line and attempted some 50 yard field goals. I was making my kicks by a few yards and Jad was making his half way up the uprights.

Finally I became curious to see if he was that much better than me or was the football making a difference? I finally decided to ask him if we could switch footballs.

I started kicking the Nike balls and he used my Wilson GST football. The moment we switched balls I could tell that the tables had turned in my favor. I moved all the way back to a 63 yard field goal and Jad was struggling to get distance from 55 yards!

The University of Tennessee is the only school in the SEC, to my knowledge, that still uses this football. Auburn and South Carolina use a different type of Wilson football rather than the GST.

I have seen some Tennessee fans on the message boards of Volquest.com ask why incoming freshman kicker Michael Palardy has had trouble kicking his kickoffs into the endzone.

In my opinion the problem is not with the kicker but with the football. When I saw Palardy's highlight tape I saw an extremely talented kicker but I saw him kicking a very old and broken in football. If I was a special teams coach in college I would always take that into account when evaluating a specialist.

I think that someone at Tennessee should take a hard look at using the Wilson GST football and make sure that other teams aren't gaining a competitive advantage.

If kickers from other teams are able to bomb it in Neyland, doesn't that put that argument to rest?

Did not know that.

If they zoom in on the ball before a snap, a lot of times you will notice the teams logo is on the ball. I believe this is also one of the reasons you'll notice a guy decked out in the other teams gear on the opponents sidelines during games.

I personally think if he can't beat Palardy out then he is a wasted scholarship... This is assuming Palardy doesn't get much better between now and next year. With Lincoln and now Palardy, I kinda feel like FSU in the late 90s early 00s.

well get ready to be disappointed, Bullock is a nice kicker but he will never beat out Palardy. Michael Palardy was not just the #1 over all kicker in the country he was head & shoulders better than anyone. No disrespect to Bullock but he is not even the top kicker in East Tennessee. Bullock will be a kick off specialist & a backup kicker.

If they were going to take an in-state kicker then I wish they would have looked at Enrique Ribiero from Baylor in Chattanooga. He crushes the ball on kickoffs and I've also heard he made a 57 yard FG in a game this year.

Have we been watching the same guy? High school stats don't mean crap if you can't be a guy that can consistently be counted on to make field field goals longer than 35 yards. I think Palardy's getting better and I don't expect Bullock to beat him out but I don't think Palardy's been head and shoulders better since he stepped on campus. If he was, coaches wouldn't be wasting a scholarship on a kicker.

He was the best kicker in the country for that recruiting class. But I guess he is head & shoulders better that any of our Volunteer kickers, have you see anyone else out there trying kicks ?

If he was, coaches wouldn't be wasting a scholarship on a kicker.

Who's wasting a scholarship on a kicker ? When Bullock is a player at UT his freshman year Palardy will he a junior. That's just being smart, pick up a good kicker every two years.

How was Palardy head and shoulders above all the other kickers? All kickers #1-#10 are basically rated the same in fact if you break it down Cody Parkey at Auburn was rated the most accurate kicker with Palardy the 6th most accurate. Of course none of that even matters anyway now though. Even Darr was rated from 1st to 4th in recruiting as a punter/kicker but so far I would say he is a below average punter. I don't think Palardy is nearly as bad as alot of other people on these boards think he is but just because he was a highly rated recruit means absolutely nothing now.
