He's a columnist for the Commercial Appeal in Memphis. Said basically.." Chip Kelly is a pipe dream" "Kelly wants nothing to do with the SEC." Also said Fuente is a pipe dream as well.

It's very startling hearing a lot of people say that Kelly isnt going to happen. It would be so easy to get him and once we have him, we win.

Covering fuente and having hate for all things Tennessee are two different things... he's gonna say that he would hate it so bad that Fuente came to Tennessee it would jus kill him... memphis homer

He said Fuente isn't keen on the SEC. Thinks he'd prefer to stay at VT

No ,I didn't know that. Geoff and many other people in similar positions are saying Kelly is a pipe dream and I'm trying to figure out why. I believe it's easy.

People saying "he wants no part of the SEC" are still living in the SEC of 5 or 6 years ago. Now is a GREAT time to jump in the SEC, especially the East. Bama is great, Georgia looks good (but can they put together an entire season?) but who else is there? Auburn looks decent, but beatable. The SEC isn't the beast it was.

The problem is nobody knows about Kelly but Kelly. Nobody knows whats going on behind the scenes. You think its easy because like the rest of us, you have no clue.

Remember, Saban wasnt going to be be the coach at Bama and Trump had no chance of becoming president.

The point is, at this moment, anything anyone reports about new coaches at Tennessee cannot be trusted. Its ALL conjecture at this point.

Both are pipe dreams. Our university is way to tight for either one. Might as well start making up rumors of Division 2 coaches being interviewed, because that's basically what we've gotten the last 2 hires.

Kelly has stated in the past that the SEC would be an amazing challenge. This has been reported by SI and ESPN in the past, that is why his name has come up for the past 3 years associated with SEC schools.

Calkins is a huge Memphis homer and knows his audience...tiger fans. He loathes SEC teams, especially UT and Ole Miss.

That being said, he is probably right about Kelly and Fuente.

I know some are suggesting Fuente, but I’m not a huge fan. This is not a home run hire that we need. We need a sure National Championship coach.

He's the back up plan if kelly, stoops and Patterson decline.

I think I remember hearing that he didn't like recruiting or dealing with boosters. Think that was mentioned sometime while he was in the NFL, on some sports channel or maybe just the radio.
