I know there is, or at least was, a recruiting mod so please merge this to whatever spot is necesary once I get a response or two as I did not want to start a new thread on what has probably been discussed a lot in this forum the past few days. Basically, I my questions center around having listened to Doug Matthews state that this year's recruiting class is critical for Butch Jones to succeed here within a four-year time table due to the bulk of our talent being concentrated in the Junior class. The I read the Rivals article Rivals.com Football Recruiting - Don't judge Jones too quickly at Tennessee where various media people seem to be saying that we should not expect a big recruiting splash this year. What does all this mean? Can the program have any chance of significant improvement in the short term if the 2013 class isn't loaded? On a different note, did we get the kind of coach that is going to turn one of those Top 5 in-state players or get any Top 100 prospects from out of state?

This is the time of year when us non-recruitniks start flooding this forum, so thanks in advance for your indulgence and responses.

I am not a recruiting expert either, but we may not have many remaining empty schollies to fill with top recruits. If CBJ were to have a recruiting class with a lot of impact, does he have enough slots and time left to get the "big fish" this year? Will he or should he purge the current committments to make room?

I appreciate the initial responses. I'm hoping that some of the folks who really keep up with recruiting can help us set our expectations in light of what we just went through. I don't want to disappointed in February because I was listening to the wrong people. On the other hand, I don't want to be apathetic about recruiting if there's some real reason to expect big things.

Sending Hinshaw off to Kentucky will not help. Recruits loved that dude. I think this was a horrible mistake.

:)If we could get T here he could flip Ramsey, that would be a heck of a start.

Ramsey was just quoted saying he was upset with T. T was suppose to do an inhome with him this past week but was a no show and Ramsey said T did not let him know either.
