We looked better this week than last overall but we're still not ready for Florida imo.

Still saw a LOT of missed tackles.

The passing game was a little more active this week than last but that's still debatable.

I'm glad we have another game before Florida even if its just the Ohio Bobcats. We need more game film review and more coaching up.

No doubt VT's turnovers helped us win but don't forget we didn't capitalize on every turnover like we should have either.

There were MANY times where we easily had them for a 4 yard loss and they still got 8 yards on the play. We did play a lot better after the 1st quarter even though we had breaks go our way for once. The biggest positive I saw was 2 of our passing touchdowns. I think we definitely drop 1 if not both of those last year. Maybe our receivers are finally learning to hold onto the ball in key moments.

Dobbs still makes inexplicably bad decisions way too often as well. Estatic about the win and fully expect to be ranked higher by FL week but also realize it wont last long unless overall play is significantly improved.

I feel like we won. I'm just not yet ready to look into all the negatives of the game. I shall bask in the glory of UT's win for a bit longer I do believe.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact he's running for his life every time he drops back.

I can't believe some of you have the gall to criticize the guy whose running ability makes this offense functional.

No Dobbs and we don't score a point with this o-line.

Receivers looked good on 50/50 balls thrown up for grabs. They need to be better utilized.

Some poor 4th quarter clock management didn't bite Butch on his backside.

Some of the undisciplined play needs to be corrected.

The fact that we came out flat is disconcerting to say the least. How could the team not be up for THIS GAME? Still...The Vols responded big in the 2nd qrt. The whole team made sure VT didn't get back into it from there. Hopefully UT brings the intensity against Ohio and it carries over to UF.

Where was Preston Williams?
Slow start is concerning but they held their poise.
Without the fumbles this is a different game.
When is Kongbo going to show out?
Second down play calls infuriate me especially when the offense needs to move the ball to rest the D and run clock late.
Dobb's decision making still a ? and his reads are sometimes wrong. [great game overall though. Who can argue with 3 TD passes 2 running TDs? ]
JRM needs to channel that enthusiasm just a little more effectively. He will get ejected again at some point if not careful.
The all out blitz late turned out to be a horrible call on D. Tech was prepared.
Overall a decent performance by the D. They were certainly disruptive this time.
Vols were able to overcome the spectacle of the venue. Have to wonder if that maybe contributed a little to the slow start.
Television commentators and camera work need to turn up their game a notch to keep up with the up tempo offenses. No time for mouth running or extended replay at times. They also completely missed all of the review on the muffed punt by Tech. I was expecting to come back from commercial to see Tech with the ball. [I know I'm a negative cynical Nellie] lol
Josh Smith had another unremarkable game but i expect him to have a monster one soon.
Kamara looked really good on his touches.
Hurd ran better and the OL owes a huge pat on the back to Sheriron Jones. Give that kid a game ball.

Tennessee rushed 46 times for 239 yards for a 5.2 average and 3 TD. That's not bad! What bothers me is the 10 receptions for 91 yards for a 9.1 average 3 TD and 4 of those completions were to RB. We've got to have a passing game!

The only positive so far for me over last season is that the team fights hard throughout and find ways to get it done.

I've not been overly impressed with the D, I'd rank it as slightly disappointing.

Until we can block 3 man pressures this offense is handicapped.

It's criminal the lack of touches Kamara gets.

Debord's play calling has looked disjointed, but again, if your QB is running for his life when 3 rush and 8 drop you're going to be limited.

The first quarter had me wanting to just turn it off.

The second quarter was like, WHOA! Where has this been?

The Tale of Two Teams, "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way. . ."

So the SR QB should be above criticism even when making absolutely indefensible throws because the o-line play is bad and he is a good runner?

Big win. Bigger building block for the coaching staff. Jack Jones and Shy Tuttle must start. Both are extremely talented ... and spark plugs for their defensive and offensive units.

God bless S Jones. His attitude is amazing. True VFL whether he ever starts a game or not.

Go Vols!

The difference is attitude, especially with the offensive line. I can not believe the difference when 55 went out in the 2nd qt.

I love me some Josh Smith, however that pathetic block attempt on an inside screen was costly... If that BS continues lets give Byrd a shot in the slot

Ill build off of what OP said

Tackling was bad, but after first quarter seemed to improve dramatically. Run defense was atrocious for first two games up until that point.

Offensive line play was wretched, until the end of the first quarter. There were still times they let by some defenders after the first quarter, but played more cohesively and with more energy after that.

Shy Tuttle. He is back and doesnt seem to have missed a beat due to his injury. Guy will be an x-factor if he stays healthy.

Sheriron Jones. I feel more comfortable that our team will not play flat with his leadership on the sideline. They need to get that guy some snaps this year at least at the end of games where we are up a good margin. 12th man is Sheriron Jones.

Josh Malone. He only had a couple of grabs but he made it look easy. The WR corps as a whole still needs to improve. Preston Williams and Josh Smith had some key drops. As long as we can have one of them show up, the deep threat might be more of a factor this year than last.

Many other aspects of the game looked great but those stood out the most.

The crazy thing was that he was out for maybe a few plays. Maybe he thought he was going to lose his spot so he started playing with more toughness.

If our O-line doesn't get better, it will be torn apart by the Gators' defensive front, and we will lose to them again. It's as simple as that.

I remember Dobbs's interception came on a pass where he had plenty of time to throw, and ended up throwing it right into the chest of a VT defender. Last week he threw an up-for-grabs interception while trying to throw across his body.

Great runner, but is making poor decisions in the passing game thus far.

Great game to win but may be fools gold...great running by Dobbs.. Take away Hail Mary receptions (2 to Malone.. great catches..67 and 38 yds) and the passing game to wide receivers nonexistent... After first half of first game (Williams 45 yds), Williams 0, Smith 3, Jennings 7. Where are the wide receivers ? Kirkland may be lost for season. how good is Colton Jumper .. NOT ...Watch out !!! Fla., Georgia, Texas A&M, Alabama will only need to stop Dobbs and Hurd running.. Remember Virg Tech had 5 fumbles, 108 yds in key penalties.

Come on dude. Yes, he's playing behind one of the worst OLs in our program's history, as long as Thomas is on the field that is.

But that isn't the reason why he's running to the left or right and then throwing balloons back across the field like every QB is constantly coached not to do. He's done it two games now and it's very uncharacteristic of him.

Thank goodness Josh was out there last night because he made some great plays both running and throwing to help us win. But he needs to start making better decisions than he's made each of the first 2 games if we're gonna even have a puncher's chance once we get into SEC play.

But he is a 1sr round pick
