Hey I am a hard core Gator fan but I have to admit Bruce Pearl has had our number. There is no denying it. Now we are the two time champs and Billy D is the best coach out there in my opinion, but UT has put it on us. I always speak my honest opinion.

Can you guys tell me why the Vols have been beatin us over the last few years. It ain't because we suck that's for sure.

being dubbed the best coach of our generation by a bunch of UF idiots is hardly indicative of anything. Moreover, the fact that Foley was willing to pay him more than everyone else says nothing.

He landed on a perfect storm of recruits one time and it worked. Aside from that, his coaching has been weak to middlin', including now. The SC loss at SC was a perfect indicator.

I'm telling you it's because your coach sucks. We had no business being in the gym with Brewer & Co. Last year's team was awful, but Speights should have murdered us. This year's team just has no business trying to play college ball, especially at the defensive end. Donovan went with the idea of recruiting 3 point shooters, but forgot that someone has to play D.

I don't care what place you're in. Your team is nowhere close to the best team in the SEC, even in this down year.

You are ABSOLUTELY out of your mind wrong on this one. He might not be the best coach, but he sure doesn't suck either.

Chris Lofton kept UT in both games in '06. We spread the floor to combat UF's size advantage, and it worked. We could have easily lost both games, but we made a (the same) play at the end of them.
Last year, UT had a better team. UF was rebuilding.
As for '07, UF won big at home while Lofton was out. I doubt UT would have win had he played - Gators were very up for that game after getting swept the year before - only thing they didn't do in '06 was beat UT and thus win the East. UT won big at home in '07 - it was the biggest home game of the year. Vandy and LSU blew UF out at home that year too.

Still, 6-1 is pretty impressive. I think Bruce's style matches up very well with Billy D's style. And, there's the answer - matchups. UK has given Bruce fits since he got to UT, but Billy D has had little problem beating UK the last few years.

Some people easily forget - before those two titles, Billy D went, I believe, 5 straight years without making the sweet 16.

matchups don't begin to explain our beating their national title teams. There is no excuse for them to have lost any of those 4 games.

it was hyperbole, but he's still not the coach his two titles suggest he is.

There are roughly 50 guys I would prefer right now to him.

I almost agree with BPV except reaching the finals in 2000 has me hesitant. One fluke is explainable, but two is harder to explain away.

am I losing it? I thought his only final 4s were the 2 he won. Did he take Kruger's crowd with Mike Miller to the FF? Guess I'll do my own looking.

FTR, I was dead wrong. He took them and I'm simply losing my mind. For some reason, I was convinced that the only thing he had done was with Kruger's boys and then a bunch of way too early exits.

Yeah, he lost to Mateen, Mo Pete, and that Sparty group in the 2000 championship game.

In your defense, it really wasn't a very memorable game.

I cannot agree that Donovan has never been a good coach for the Gators. He did have quite a string of NCAA appearances going until recently and I think its more than a little bit of luck that he had those two national c-ships. There have been plenty of coaches with big time talent who never got it done, much less twice. You've got to give him some credit.

But, I am still wondering about that whole episode with the Magic and whether he is nearly as focused as he was 3-4 years ago. Granted, the talent level is not currently nearly what it was then, but there have been some serious lapses it would seem. Obviously, he gets some blame for the South Carolina collapse (not all of it, but some). I also thought that the gameplan for the UT game was dubious.
