Regarding some NFL team wanting to hand Meyers the keys to the bank vault, how many teams in the league run the spread option offense?

Whin you replace 9 of 11 starters on D and have no real running game a lot of talk is all you have , sounds like thoes guys at scout have a lot of time on hand.

While it's possible, it's nowhere near probable.....you just don't replace a 4 year starter at QB and 9 starters on defense and get better that soon.

No real running game?! ROFLROFL

There is always a possibility they could be better, but I don't put high odds on it.

That's right, and he won for a couple of years with Johnson's players and then everything went to hell in a hand basket.

You can't do that in the NFL. You can't say "With Johnson's players" - these people don't graduate, aren't recruited. It's not like college football.

But, Jimmy Johnson was a great draft-day coach (I know, the Herschel Walker deal had a lot to do with that also).

So? It's not like when Johnson left, 3 years later, there was a whole new roster. The NFL doesn't work that way, so it's ridiculous to say "But Gruden won with Dungy's players."

6 for sure maybe 7 can't remember if Grootegoed was a starter 02 or not, but he and Rucker both played a ton, may have even started on occasion.

What's your point ?
They were replacing a four year starter at QB and a number of defensive players and most definitely got better.

Ohio State replaced 9 defensive Starters from 2005 to 2006. It's hard to say if they got better or not, but it isn't like they got a whole lot worse, and the team got better.

Gruden did win with Dungy's players.

I had a post about something like this on my blog: 7 of the last 8 (or 6 of the last 7, can't remember) national champs have had at least 6 defensive starters and at least 6 offensive starters, with one being a QB, returning.

In fact, soon, at my new blog, I'll outline the most updated list of those teams who qualify for 2007.

I'll give you the QB, but replacing 4 or 5 on defense with some part timers coming back included in the fold is a helluva lot different than replacing 9 with little to no pt's behind them......but those will be filled with talent.

I've always been an SC fan but it should also be noted that it's alot easier to get better in the Pac-10 than it is in the SEC.....record wise anyway.
