Less than two weeks away, now. Who is going, who is tailgating, and where at? This will be my first trip to the swamp and, unfortunately, an obnoxious gator fan will be with me, so I don't want to end up in the middle of a bunch of those nuts with no other true orange around.

I'm making my first trip down there as well. Don't have any tailgating plans yet though.

I am also taking my first trip to the swamp, I'll be in the UT section for the game. No tailgate plans yet.

is it safe to wear UT orange in that stadium?

i've got section 326 or 27.. can't remember which it is. paid face so not complaining.

come on, KSU... visiting teams get tix. there will be plenty of orange around you at the game since you're in a UT section. just don't start fights outside the stadium!

we'll at LEAST have a grill and my cornhole set. Got a 32" lcd coming this week, too, but not sure if I will have the funds to put towards a portable generator or marine battery w/ inverter. or if i will have enough space! might have to put the girls on the luggage rack!

Take some sunscreen and a hat. In 326 or 327 you will have the sun in your face during most of the game. On the upside, you should get a decent breeze in that sectionif there is one.

Advice:

Don't walk on the sidewalks and drink alcohol. The cops will ticket you.

Get there EARLY if you want a place to tailgate. Last weeks opener started at 7 PM and the place was packed by 12 PM this past weekend.

Bring some sort of cover. It's really damn hot.

Ignore the people who talk sh**! Most of the time they're drunk.

Wear sunscreen (seriously!) especially where the UT section is. You'll be in the sun the whole time.

Have a good time!

thanks for the info from the enemy. i'm hoping to be parked at my tailgating spot by 9am. would that be too late for a spot on campus? the gatortailgating.com site has a lot of good info. any spot on the grass that isn't marked off is fair game???

All of the prime sports near the stadium are taken pretty early. If you can arrive before 9 a.m. it would be better. There are plenty of spots on campus south of the stadium, just mind the no parking signs and you should be ok. Be VERY careful about the open container thing.

if i can get everyone's butt out of bed and ready in time then we'll be there before 9, but that's probably asking too much

I am in sect 49 also, this will be my first time in Gainesville. I am going to the Big Orange Tailgate Tour to be with other vol fans for tailgating.

From my visits to gainesville, if you tailgate on campus property, you're ok, but don't walk around with anything open. If you step on the city's sidewalks, roads, etc. with a drink, you will be given a citation or arrested. The gville police are some of the worst in the SEC.

I will be there with another Vol in tow. If any plans for a pre-game gathering at a bar, please post on here. Safe trips to all.

Bring bail money and a change of clothes, for the drinks that get tossed on you and the fights you get in. If you drive a car with TN plates, make sure your insurance deductible is low, so it won't cost you much after they key it. Gainesville has the worst fans in the country, and its not worth making the trip. A bunch of classless transplanted yankees.

Hard to dispute this. My wife vowed she'd never go back when I took her for the first time.

To this I'll add.....if you have magnets, flags or anything else on your car be sure to remove them prior to leaving your vehicle or they will be vandalized/stolen. Someone even attempted to take the license plate off my car.

With all the above being said, will there be a central Big Orange pre-game hangout? Will need plenty of beverages pre-game.

Wow. Were still going. I have GA tags and am taking everything out thats TN and putting it in my trunk. I heard bad stories. Is anyone staying in Daytona? We are going to drive to Daytona on Friday and stay the night then Saturday travel to Gainesville. We need to all stick together down there from what I hear. GO VOLS!

BTW...it's obviously not all the gator fans that act this way. It just seems like the "bad fans" at UF are at a higher ratio than most other places.

Although....I did have some older fans give my son and me crap one year.....

It is without a doubt my least favorite place (fan wise) to watch a game and I've been there for games other than UT.
