An extra twenty bucks or whatever is a relative drop in the bucket compared to the typical overall cost of a big football day at Neyland - especially for those driving far enough to need hotel rooms etc

I think I'm driving more now than before the price got ridiculous. Building a new house, ( I'm 69, what was I thinking) and having to run hither and yon for so many items I would never have dreamed of. Oh well, get to start moving in this evening.

Probably not if they had stadium seats worth sitting in. Tip from old, old, old days. Put $2 - $3 in a coffee can for each driving trip you make, whether 2 miles down the road to Aunt Berthie's or a 260+ miles jaunt to kick cousin Raul's azz for insisting Coral Hex #FF7F50 and Persian #D99058 are the proper orange Vols unis should be colored.

Yeah, if your local you are super lucky. It's a nearly a 4 digit weekend to go see the vols these days for me and a lot of us.

I stopped going to games before the gas prices went up. Too expensive and more fun on TV with a bunch of friends over.

Not just here, price hotels for road game weekends. They usually triple compared to weekends when no game is in town. Think they're gougin', you betcha. Price gouging begins at the pumps and end at the dinner table. I used to love to hear John Ward say " Pay these prices, and no more", but ole JW always had a good seat waiting, and he deserved it. The rest of us just have to make our own calls on how much we can spend.

Gas prices are just the beginning of the "out of control" inflation. OF COURSE, it's going to affect attendance (how much I don't know) and everything else.... Amazing where we've fallen to in just a short time.

Just thinking out loud. Form a home game collective to rent a paddle wheel riverboat built for hotel-like accommodations instead of being a floating casino. Collectively bargain for rates 50% or less than local hotels, and just maybe include a dining area for quality pre- and post-game meals. Or maybe ole Dan White can have Ut purchase such a boat or two to do this. It's probably the best option since the S.H.I.E.L.D helicarrier is unavailable due to being a quasi-military asset.
