you know, I think either can be had for 5 million per year. And it would probably be a good long term investment. I mean a nationally relevant program has to rake in millions more than a program doomed to decades of utter irrelevance right? That said, the real question is, "how much is Hart prepared to risk?" and I don't think we've seen any evidence to suggest he's a real aggressive AD. But at least he cant be as passive as Hamilton was. It's just not possible.

Where exactly is the money going to come from to pay Dooley'sbuyout and this imaginary number needed to bring a great coach in?

This is the problem. Chris Peterson is the guy IMO, but we can afford it all with the hole the AD is in.

Well, we tried to save money with the last hire and we saw how that worked out. Might as well cut our losses and raise the debt ceiling. It's the American way after all.

Patterson. Look at how many guys have come from Boise and failed when they went to bigger programs. Nutt, Koetter, Hawkins. Just my opinion.

Perhaps he appears passive as he waits for the right moment to pull the trigger?

eh, I'd like to believe you, but the guy never really did anything at FSU. I doubt he's going to make big moves this late into his career, but I might be wrong.

Boom goes the dynamite! Couldn't have said it any better.

If your business is failing because of faulty equipment (what happens when you buy cheap stuff)...do you try to replace it and recoup your losses thereafter, or do you just go further into a hole by keeping the faulty equipment that got you into the jam in the first place?

I think we are reaping the fruits of a low-budget hire and we should expect no less. Hamilton thought he could find the football equivalent of Bruce Pearl, and he whiffed.

Honestly, I don't think he even thought it out to that extent. I mean if you look at the two resumes, there's really no comparison between Pearl and Dooley. Pearl had big success at every level and had proven he could win big games on a national stage. I honestly think Hamilton was just too cozy in his position and didn't really want to stick his neck out and try to woo a big time head coach. It's purely speculation, but based on the results, I just get this sense that Hamilton's version of a coaching search was to pick up the phone and ask people if they wanted to work for him and then keep doing it until he got a yes. So basically what anyone could do.
