Gary Danielson to retire

I like Charles. He's engaging, bright, and quick on his feet. Represents our beloved university very well and he has great pride in UT.

Never a bad thing for such an esteemed gentleman to be broadcast weekly nationwide

Not so sure I am willing to watch B10 football for him though. Not sure I would even listen to a close relative if it was B10 football.

As for Gary.......well, the 2024 season was pretty good. Didn't hear his voice a single time that I recall.

I wish CBS would have stayed in the SEC for more years and it would have been great again without Gary

Naah. That's not even a new job. He has been carrying Bama's water for years.
He loves whoever the frontrunner is. Before Saban got to Alabama, it was UF and Tebow. He still couldn't help himself and would bring up Tebow all these years later. In more recent times, he shifted his love to Kirby.

Danielson is probably the most hated broadcaster I can remember. I don't hate him, and I tend to be forgiving of bad broadcasting (I believe it's a much harder job than people think), but even I couldn't really take Danielson. Seems like a nice guy, tho.

I suppose that when I reading the latest post in this thread-I kind of realized that Charles would not be broadcasting any of our games for ESPN anymore.

The evil empire really has a lack of quality announcers these days don't they?

McDonough is very good most of the time.

After that, you pretty much dread seeing who is gonna pop up calling the game that week

Oddly enough, I always thought RG3 did a decent job when he was calling college games for 2-3 years. He was at least somewhat amusing.

Anybody else I'm missing?

I wish they had come up with some kind of secondary contract with CBS. I'm fine with ABC/ESPN having the main games and all but basketball season especially it was annoying how they scheduled games so close togehter and games always overrun. Since there is no CBS option anymore the SEC games had to be on one of the ABC/ESPN channels. It would have been nice to have another spot to put a game or 2 so as not to crowd the schedule so much.
