I've heard his name mentioned a few times and wondering if he would come to UT? If not him, who are some of the coaches that might join the new staff?

He doesn't have ties beyond his dad, who was the AD at UGA when he was hired there...we just have to hope that he is not happy with the situation at UGA and would be interested in coming back. It will take some money and convincing his wife. I'm for it.

I would love this hire! I truly believe he would make a good DC and he is a great recruiter man I mean just look at Georgia! However, I do believe it's Lance Thompson's time to shine. He has all the tools to become a DC and we could maybe promote him as the RC as well because of his ability in that field as well. Also, working with CDD under Saban and both having been taught under Saban they could really be on the same terms when it comes to defense and what kind of formations we should run, etc. Rodney Garner would be a good hire though.

We cannot have Rodney Garner and Lance Thompson.

We have to choose one or the other. Given his ties, I am guessing that he chooses LT.
RG also has a wife who would hate Knoxville. She wants to be on the Real Housewives of Atlanta.

Absolutely correct, cannot have both and the wife is a diva who needs a big city

I know Garner is a recruiting legend. The Vols are rebuilding and cleaning house. I would rather have some new blood.

You don't turn down Garner if you have the chance to get him.

In most cases.... yeah.

But Garner has Georgia high school football wrapped around his finger. If we can get him...it's a good thing.

I don't believe for a second that they haven't talked. They are probably already in negotiations.
