doesn't necessarily fit the bill since the series has gotten real good reviews, but the kingdom hearts series is awesome. the first game is probably in my top 3 or 5 best games of the last 10 years. maybe even #1.

Loved goonies and kid Icarus on nes. Not sure if others liked it but all my friends back in the day disliked them.

Ninja Gaiden: Black on the xbox.

Most people hate the game, saying it is too hard. I played the HELL out of it while I was in college. It had a pretty good online community, that would help each other out, and compete for the best scores. Solid, ground breaking game... that most people hate.

Crappy game but it was worth several chuckles.
