This is SUCH a poorly coached team--it's unbelievable. Seriously, we've got a veteran team full of high-school All Americans, and yet when when we play a solid, good team we have NO idea what we are doing. I've said for YEARS that Summitt is clueless when it comes to coaching half-court offense--and we see this in spades tonight. The players make two passes and then get confused and stand around, and what comes next is either a bad pass or a turnover or a missed shot.
Glory and Baugh are both very good athletes--and seniors--yet neither one of them has any idea how to play and make a shot in the low post! None! Baugh wants to play outside, and Glory still wants to dribble the ball in the paint with defenders around her--something that most players are schooled NOT TO DO from the 3rd grade on. There are some very basic, simply offensive moves when you get the ball in the paint--and they have no clue! Glory works her butt off, is an amazing rebounder--and gets fouled more than anyone we have. And yet she's our worst free-throw shooter!
The team's passing is sloppy...I could go on and on. Manning--another senior--is as jittery as a school mouse when she shoots the ball. You shouldn't be a senior at UT and too nervous to shoot the ball. This team simply is not well coached; we waste SO many possessions with the ball. We have TWICE the talent as Notre Dame--but Notre Dame is well coached and we aren't. We OUGHT to be one of the favorites to win the title, with our talent, but it won't happen.
