Since they've not announced it, they may be waiting to see if Texas A&M pulls this out. If so, maybe them and Arkansas, which is on ESPN (unlike our game)
Last week it came out at 11 ET. The fact that it hasn’t come out yet makes me think that Arkansas- A&M was somehow also in play and they were watching the outcome of the A&M-Miami game.
The general thoughts as far as the most likely spots this week are (in no particular order):
#5 Clemson vs (will probably be #16) Wake Forest - Wake Forest’s campus has never hosted a real College Gameday (they hosted that pseudo “hey everyone CFB’s back Gameday” with 0 fans during 2020). Great stories with the whole Ella Strong Clemson story, Sam Hartman and his career, the success Dave Clawson has brought to a school that used to be an easy win for most every team on the schedule. A possible negative - other than it being at Wake Forest - is that Gameday was just in North Carolina (in Boone) this week.
#10 Arkansas vs (maybe will be #20-22) Texas A&M - Arkansas being good is a great, rare opportunity and a great comeback/rebuilding story, it’s a (sort of) rivalry game, and it’s at Jerry World in Dallas (only negative is it completely takes Alabama-Arkansas off the table next weekend). The fact that Gameday wasn’t announced sometime before the result of the A&M-Miami game might mean this location has heavy consideration
(Probably #16) Florida vs (Probably #12) Tennessee - Gameday hasn’t been to Knoxville since 2016, big rivalry, great rebuilding story regarding Tennessee. A possible negative, however, is both of these teams being ranked in the mid-teens range, and Florida’s current state of play.
Wisconsin vs #3 Ohio State - Normally would be a big game, especially with a top 5 team…kind of lessened by Wisconsin’s loss earlier this year. Herbstreit’s also apparently calling this game next weekend.
Duke (3-0) vs Kansas (3-0) - This one’s weird but also getting a lot of note, so I wouldn’t sleep on it possibly happening. There’s been a lot of talk from Gameday over the off-season about some re-evaluate of their presence and trying to make sure they pay some more attention to opportunities at campuses they have never been to when they arrive. The Jayhawks are 3-0 (as is Duke) and they’ve never been to Lawrence…and a 3-0 Kansas is so, so very rare that one can reasonably predict their opportunity isn’t going to come up again any time soon. They did make mention this week that if the Jayhawks beat Houston, it would be within their consideration…it’s also early enough in the season that nothing too huge would be missed elsewhere by doing such.
1. Wake Forest vs. Clemson
2. Duke vs Kansas
3Michigan vs, Maryland
4 Ohio State vs. Wisconsin
5. Lindenwood vs. Tennessee-Martin where this came from who knows
Googled where would College Gameday be week 4 2022 and this what it gave me.
They literally just tweeted this clip out of them talking about the best home field environments for this coming week’s set of games. The only two they mentioned were Tennessee-Florida and Clemson-Wake. Timing of the tweet makes it seem like those are the finalists, but then again maybe I’m just reading into it too much.
It honestly should go to Kansas. They may never have another opportunity for 2 undefeated teams and unless I’m just missing it they haven’t ever been there before.
