I don't think it's as much the total number of minutes as the way in which they're played. 30 minutes chopped up in 3 minute increments does not allow any flow or match up continuity and contbutes to the chaos that has eaten its own team alive this year.It looks like she had her Core 7 (Cooper, Spearman, Robertson, Civil, Barker, Latham, and Mi Pauldo) for this game. Everyone else who played only got single digit minutes. Four of them, including Cooper, played nearly 30 min in this one, so they weren’t off the court much
The most telling fact is that our bigs are not playing anywhere near their potential at neither end of the court. The fact that it is the second half where the breakdown occurs is a clear statement that the other coach adjusts and CKC does not. I think that is because she has nothing to adjust to at this point.

I’ve come to believe that we need a big like Beers. It’s seems that size and weight is important. A big that can’t be moved. A big that can impose her size underneath. I used Beers as an example, but there are others being very successful.Just like the Louisville game, we have 2 6'4 posts that allowed another undersized 6'2 (Washington) get going inside. Granted Blakes and Galvan set her up beautifully with cuts and passes inside. But the lack of physical play from Zee and Janiah has ready been hurting is most of the year.
I think the worry is a big like that would slow things down too much. Even when we get out of this system nightmare, CKC is going to want to play fast.I’ve come to believe that we need a big like Beers. It’s seems that size and weight is important. She doesn’t seem to have the players to fit her system. They don’t seem to have the mental mindset. They missed 13 layups that I counted and don’t have the shooters or any Senior leaders like Sara and Tess.I don't know what so many on here saw, but today's loss wasn't on the "system", because the system, with the possible exception of the substitution pattern, wasn't on display. At least, to my observation. There was no frequent, ineffectual pressing defense. Some might say there was no defense, particularly in the third quarter. I have tried, to no avail, to figure out what the problem is with this team coming out of half-time. It is pretty clear that this team cannot effectively play a strictly man-to-man defense. Even players of, arguably, lesser athletic ability consistently blow by our players. Seldom, if ever, is there any help defense that closes off the lane to the basket. And, I don't know what to say about rebounding. Pat Summitt always said rebounding was about effort. Apparently, no one has told the current coaching staff. I think that one problem with the "system" is that it doesn't allow for the coach to sit a player for poor in-game performance.
I'm not suggesting that what we seem to know as Coach Caldwell's "system" is a solution for the Lady Vols. One thing that I think negates any positive benefits is that it depends on being able to win a track meet and to get more shot attempts than your opponent. I haven't gone through the season statistics, but, I think that simply will not hold true against the majority of teams at this level and certainly not against the better teams. Unfortunately, as the season has shown, reliance on beating your opponent down the floor and out-rebounding that opponent only works sporadically and if you haven't developed an offensive scheme that considers this failure as a possibility and can be implemented when that is your reality, you get what many on here have described as "hero ball", and so far, that hasn't resulted in many wins.
The Lady Vols have players capable of being a consistently winning team. Hopefully, steps will be taken to put them in position to accomplish this in the future.

Is it losing Ruby or are they just too young? Maybe she needs to do some tweaking and make them earn playing time. Ten of them know they are going to play no matter what they do.
What say you coaches out there? Maybe it’s time for them to go to the losers dressing room. I’m at a loss.
