It was a fun night!! That is more than enough reason to play.I don’t think anyone envisioned North Carolina Central would have had the injury problems they have had, which puts them in that 350 range instead of in the mid-100s.
That said, Tennessee avoided scheduling two games like this last year, and ended up two games under the minimum you could play, which caused some other problems in the net math. So the question is, are you better off not playing at all, or playing a game like this? They made the decision to play.
I commend NC Central for their spirit. They kept playing right up to the end and finished with a heck of a three pointer. The salient point in the NC Central coach's postgame interview was how his players anticipated and enjoyed this game! And how, as a coach, he feels he'd be cheating his lower-D1 players if he didn't give them opportunities to play in the premiere arenas.
I guaran-dang-tee you NC Central's players would not trade their trip to Knoxville for a win over some lower level school.
Their real season starts now. But after accumulating lifetime memories.
This account has over 19 million followers on X. Gives us much-needed publicity and some are complaining about the opponent.
We've been the laughing stock of WBB since the 1.1 second buzzer beater.
I'll take these records any day week regardless of the opponent.
What are Destinee Wells struggles with theAnyone else notice has much better shape Wells is in from the start of the season? I know she literally was cleared when the season started so to see her now from a few weeks ago… yeahhh that strength and conditioning program is NASTY! That’s gonna be CLUTCH having her in Caldwell shape during the SEC season because it throws a wrench in that people haven’t really seen as she’s not been in many games yet.. she’s a baller. Look out.
CKC started that thread when there were still 3 minutes to go.
Give NC the credit for playing us but I hateTotally agree. This was a mid level high school team.
No they didn't. Pat would never have scheduled a team like this. Her late 90s/early 2000 teams sometimes won by 30 or 35, and once beat Vandy by 50 in an SEC tourney. But they didn't reach this far to the bottom of the barrel for games. This may have been the worse team I've ever seen the LVs play.
Yes of course. Why else would they take this kind of complete and utter humiliation? Some coach who's currently on the 50 pt loss tour was very honest about it just the other day after being crushed by LSU. Said of course it's awful but it's the only way she has to fund her program. She seemed totally torn down and I'm sure her kids are too.
I know some say these kids enjoy seeing a top tier program and it's a good experience for them. But it sure wouldn't be for me. I can buy a ticket to a top game, I can get a tour of the facilities. BUt none of it is worth being so totally ground to dust and reminded how far off you are from elite programs. Not in the same universe. I wish we wouldn't schedule out of 150 or so range.
I'm just really glad no one got hurt and I can't wait for the rest of preseason to be over. Scheduling has gotten far out of hand in all sports. This was like the football team beating Kent st 77-0. Records are great, but these almost need an asterisk.
They played Florida Atlantic one year when FAU was still in Division II, under Pat, and beat them by 82. Mismatches like this happen, and Pat scheduled them just like any other coach does.We literally beat UTM 134-60 back in 99-00, so yes, Pat did the same thing. Please. Stop.
Not at all. I just want us to keep our standards high.I honestly think it pains him that he's having to wait longer than expected to say "I told you so." We're still undefeated and lots of eyes are on the program. Yes we're gonna lose some, but we're only getting better. CKC is our coach and this will always be her style of play.
Get used to it or cheer for another program.
Where am I on this list looks like I was left off.Maybe I've got it now.
I made a mistake on Orange Maniac, look out chuckiepoo it tightened up.

Thry, being near the very bottom of the ratings,, scored fifty nine points against the number nineteen team in the country... They have much to celebrateNot at all. I just want us to keep our standards high.
Last time around on this, while I know many enjoy this, it just makes me completely uncomfortable for the kids on the other side. It's beyond brutal. And as a paying customer, I'm disappointed in the level of out of conf play in all sports, esp as tic prices, etc rocket up.
I'm really, really looking forward to league play. I do think CKC is ahead of schedule and that's great. I'm ready for an actual challenge.
Doesn't matter on who the winner of the pick the score.Tennessee 110
North Carolina C 56
Richmond playing Texas today. They probably lose by 20 or so. I think when we play them hopefully about the same. Always worry about Memphis will be their tourney game. I think we win by double digits but they will come to play. We’ve got a few more games of interest before conference.
Next up: @ Memphis State ~200ish
Took us to over time last year. They got payback coming. Alex Simmons may not be getting a check but she’ll be hosting with her own version of the stare.
Next: Richmond (neutral site) 50ish
Goodness. Tournament Game at the beach in Florida. Stiffer competition for sure.
Yes they were. Vocal and supportive all afternoon.I commend NC Central for their spirit. They kept playing right up to the end and finished with a heck of a three pointer.
You could see on the bench they took a lot of pride in little victories. Getting a rebound, making a bucket, getting a defensive stop.
They knew this game was going to be an epic mismatch but they were enjoying the moment.
Not to worry, @chuckiepoo , I think they're also still counting votes in California. You're right. I'll fix it. You are the current leader. too bad chuckiepoo
