I really enjoy womens softball. It's a fun game to watch. A lot of excitement. I get just as mad if the Vols lose in this sport as I do most of the other sports....except football of course. Well, I guess mens and womens basketball too. Heck, I get mad if the Vols lose in ANY sport.

You're not alone ! I'm not a pleasant person to be around following a Vol loss.....at least for an hour anyway .

Used to take a week or two for me to get over a loss but these days not so much because the losses are coming too frequently to permit that amount of time to grieve.

We lose too much in most sports. It's time we started winning some SEC titles. I realize that the SEC is damn tough in everything, but SOMEBODY in the conference is winning a title in every sport, and it's past time that we started hanging some banners.

The football team is much improved after a decade of bad but still lags behind bama and florida--as usual. Basketball is struggling but I think Barnes will make the men's program better; how much isn't clear. Women's BB is a disaster.

Softball is very strong--but we've yet to win a national title despite 7 trips to the Championship Series, while bama and florida have. Annoying. Soccer has not been good but recruiting is strong and that team should be improving. This is a big year for the soccer team.

Rowing is respectable, volleyball has been weak--I think our VB recruiting has been lackluster for a few years. Swimming seems on an upswing--women just finished 2nd in the SEC (bridesmaid!) while the men have work to do. Baseball has been bad for years but I do believe in the current golf. And Golf? More UT meh!

I'm tired of meh. I live in Virginia. The University of Virginia used to be an athletic doormat in just about everything. Not anymore: Now they are stout in just about everything. Last year they won the national championship in men's tennis, men's soccer and men's baseball--not conference championship, national titles. It was unbelievable. Their women's soccer and tennis programs are very stout, and their men's BB team has been in the top 10 for two years. They are in a weaker conference--it is easier to recruit in the mid-atlantic than the highly competitive deep south---and UVA's great academic rep helps their athletics. Still, that too is annoying. It is time that the Vols started doing better. If the current coaches can't get it done, we need to bring in smart coaches who can. We have a lot going for us.

Weather report calls for 43 degrees and 15% chance of rain tomorrow. I hope the game isn't called. The team needs as much work as they can get.

Looks like Erin pitched well. 7 strikeouts, no walks, 105/74 pitch/strike ratio (which is great), and 6 singles given up. Fielding shaky again, Geer at third commits two errors one of which allows the lone Marshall run to score. Man, the team really needs a third baseman.

Gregg with a home run. I was hoping she'd get her bat going. Lockman at first again. She may get the job full time if Geer stays at third (which is by no means a sure thing).

Since Gabriel pitched today, I wonder who will pitch Saturday? Moss in game 1 against Arizona? Bush in 2? Gabriel on Sunday against Alabama? Or Gaffin in there somewhere?

Ralph says Karen and he weren't pleased with the win. Too many mental errors both in the field and at the plate. Players that didn't know what they were going to do if the ball was hit to them.

On the plus side, Gabriel said this is the first time since her injury that she no longer thinks of her hip.

I'm thinking Moss against Arizona...Bush against Marshall...and Gaffin ready to go behind both of them...EG could pitch Sunday against Bama or Ralph and Karen could save her if they have to play Bama again later in the season in the SEC tourney

Lockman seems to be locking up 1st base...Geer just needs to get practice time at 3rd and the Weeklys will do that...I remember when they put Raven at 3rd never thought she would turn out that great on defense there but she was fantastic!!

Yep that's what make Ralph and Karen so great...LV won but they're pissed  :good!:

Gaffin came in and shut the door on Arizona for six inning and here we are not a run in the game. Time to get two and win this one.
