GAME THREAD: Kentucky in Knoxville, Thursday, 1/22, 6:30 pm EST, SEC Network

Also, Maybe Strack is one we could get. Man she’d be a nice player to have and Kentucky is sucking it up so far in the SEC. Teams who tend to struggle in conference almost always have top players looking to transfer.

Perhaps, that leadership is coming from the LVs freshman PG. Mia is the real deal. GBO.
She gets a lot of credit, but the other Freshmen and upper and other upper cllassmen are beginning to gel. When the injured return, they can play aggressively with fear of fouling out.. We do need to evaluate our driving to the basket when our opponents have the lanes clogged up and take the 6-8 footer off the board They blocked a lot of our lay-up attempts.

Carolyn brings that ish up every time she is on a broadcast. I wanted to throttle her after that Texas/SC game. Okot hit that three and she kept talking about it over and over. Let the past be the past lady. 😂
TALK ABOUT THE GAME. THE GAME, DADGUMIT!! ANALYZE! TELL US WHAT'S HAPPENING (can't always tell with ridiculous tv coverage). THE GAME, THE GAME!

Brooks is a EGGPLANT?
That's just c-poo's colorful way of saying that Brooks is a little "Rupp around the edges."

I think it's KB tryin' to channel some of that KY men's basketball entitlement 'tude over to the the ladies' program.
When it comes to NIL, ever'body's fightin' for a bigger spoonfull... 🎸🎶

As mentioned a moment ago, Kenny said she thought she was running out of time on the 5 count and was trying to throw it off Coop’s leg. I’m not sure I believe that narrative though.

Sure looked like she was trying to bounce it between Coop’s legs to Strack.
Had she been successful getting it OOB off of Cooper's leg, is there a required-by-rule amount of time that has to come off of the game clock in those situations?

If not, it would be a way (albeit risky) to gain the benefit of another full time out while the refs are consulting the replay video.

Depends on when the ball actually goes out of bounds. With only 2.0 seconds on the clock it’s likely it would have taken a bounce or two and time would have expired.

Cooper was a few feet from the sideline so it wasn’t a very good angle or idea to do that anyhow.

Only emoji's I use:

🤡🤔😉👀🤦☝️😏😳🤮🤷👍🫠🥳🤓. and of course my favorite which I will not post the dreaded middle finger..

Personally you calling another man a ***** is kinda weird....
Today's emoji sets are age-discriminatory.

I don't know how many times I've reached for an anvil emoji, only to find there isn't one. Effective communications in these times demand a lot more anvils than young people seem to realize.

He did say in the presser she thought she was running out of time on the 5 count and was trying to throw it off Coops leg. Sure didn’t look like that though.
Ahhh! I chose not to watch that whine fest, so I obviously missed that. Tay foiled that plan right quick! That'll be one of those moments I'll never forget.

Latham played shut down defense on Strack. Literally took her out of the game, to the point she did not even attempt to shoot.

She’s been playing great. Tough, blue collar player for us. Just does what’s needed and doesn’t seem to complain.

Strack was very frustrated. She likes to catch and dribble for that short fadeaway. Every time she put the ball down a help defender grabbed it. We got several steals off that and tied her up several times.

Nice to see us doing that. Used to be we were always the team turning it over like that and now we’re doing it to opponents.

Help defense on Strack really rocked last night.

Well, yes. But what you gotta love about this postgame he isn't doing tht sleepy smug smile.
Given that Strack had torched Tennessee with perfect shooting the last two times they played us, he may have come into Knoxville supremely confident that him not having Key was a lesser issue than us not having Barker, and that he'd beat Tennessee again. So that presser was likely him suffering some severe butthurt after "Kim's girls" bent his ego over and made it their ... well ... rhymes with "witch."

Can y'all tell I'm not a fan of him? 😅

Pauldo could end up being one of the VERY best PGs to ever wear orange. FR. She is everything you want in a star PG at this level.

I've said it a few times already, but I'm always looking for another opportunity to say again how so very happy I am that our freshmen -- and especially Mia -- have FAR exceeded my pre-season expectations. I'll happily admit, again, that I didn't expect her to blossom until the very end of this season AT THE EARLIEST, but more realistically, until mid-way into her sophomore season. And that was NOT a knock on her at all. It's just that being a consistently effective point guard in the SEC is a seriously big ask of a wet-behind-the-ears freshman. ANY freshman.

But then to have not only Mia, but to also watch the amazing Jaida Civil, Deniya Prawl, Lauren Hurst and Mya Pauldo all come on and each play her own unique role as well? Dang, people. We're moving in the right direction, no doubt about it. GREAT class. The staff deserves kudos for bringing this group of five amazing young women into the Lady Vol Family. They're all helping this team as freshmen, and that's always a happy surprise for this old fan who has been around long enough to remember when most freshmen rarely played at all -- and many were red-shirted.

🧡
