GAME THREAD: Arkansas @ Tennessee, Sunday, 2 pm EST, SECN+

It’s worth remembering that Tennessee is still three or four games behind everyone but A&M. Our ‘25-‘26 team has only 14 games of experience together, while most of the rest of the SEC has played 17 and 18 games. Three or four games can mean a lot, chemistry-wise.
I’ve been wondering why we have played 2 less games than everyone the last two seasons during regular season play. Is it strategic to not ware our team out with the style of play we do?

I really don’t know why we’ve done that. I sure do hope we‘re not regretting not scheduling a couple more easy wins when it gets to crunch time and we need 20 wins.

The new inside out style of play has really made this teams offense a lot more effective since SEC play started. Were shooting 47 percent from the field and 75 percent from the free throw line. Evident that the percentages have went up because we are driving the ball and if that if covered getting a lot better looks from the three. The percentage in SEC play is 36 percent from the three.
These are impressive numbers and if we can keep even close to this were going to win most of the games going forward if we can just tighten up the defense a little bit. I think we've already did that to some extent just need to not over press or when we do have the backend covered. 72 is the high number you want to be able to give up defensively. Anything less is awesome. That is 18 points a quarter maximum anything less fantastic. We gave up 80 to Miss St at least five baskets were the result of over pressing. 65 to Florida is very effective number and only 56 to Auburn. Figuring and hoping we will be able to hold Arkansas to under 72 today.

Definitely the number will be tested when we play Alabama, Kentucky, and Ole Miss those games are where we will learn where the defense is as well as if we can maintain the present level of offensive efficiency. If we can I expect to win all three of those games. Because 47 percent, 75 from the line and 36 from the three are hard for any opponent to achieve if your playing anykind of solid defense. What gives me hope that we can continue these offensive numbers is the new style of play and the fact with the old style we were not coming in with these type numbers even playing the cupcake teams. We were shooting sometimes in the 30's or very low 40's. We were beating them by just dominating them on the glass and creating 30 more shots. Something very hard to do to SEC teams.

The takeaway is the offensive attack has totally changed and the defensive attack somewhat, but not as much as the offense. Were going to learn a lot about this team in the next couple weeks and if they keep playing this style with this efficiency it will be nothing but positive.

We pick up one with UConn a game that is a bad non conference game. I thought it was very disappointing that we schedule four none conference games against top ranked teams and none of them were at home. I don't mind us scheduling four of these teams at least two should be home games.

I think we've hit a new level of chemistry. Certainly on offense playing a very intelligent and better way.

Totally agree. I have really wondered why we have season tickets this year when most of the games have been duds or have been competitive when they shouldn't have been. Add to that, there is no longer a designated Lady Vols doing autographs post-game, and it has been a really diminished experience. And don't get me started on the buses...

100%. The home schedule has cratered. Also the lack of Sunday afternoon home games is a big downer for me.

But attendance still looks good, at least on paper. College sports fans have shown they’re willing to pay far more for far less. So I don’t expect it to change.

I wish the Lady Vols did more fan involved things like they do for other sports such as white outs, checkerboarding, etc. It would work for SEC games where the crowds are larger. LSU has something for just about every home game. I really don’t know why we don’t.

Also, we only have 14 home games this year. Big disappointment for season ticket holders when we normally have 17-18. Feels like a rip off this year.

Even someone mentioned that Alabama was handing out big Al bobble heads last game. You don't have to spend a tremendous amount of money, but it helps to engage the fan base. Honestly, we have season tickets to multiple sports, and right now we just feel like a checkbook.

Boomer waving cane in the air moment: they seem to think replacing fan involvement with head splitting, constant decibels is a good thing. Sterl the Pearl is not a good alternative for me.

And anything that they do is only geared towards kids. Which I’m all for that! Hook them in while they’re young. But there’s nothing extra for longtime season ticket holders without kids. And Riverside Club doesn’t count. I’m talking during the actual game

The Lady Vols have elevated their play in SEC play and game by game the National broadcast announcers have raved about the level of talent on this deep Tennessee roster.
Prior to the start of SEC play, casual fans speculated on how difficult the SEC would be night in and night out for Tennessee in year 2. It was stated vividly that there would be no easy wins in particular on the road.
Against any SEC opponent all road wins are consider equal which means this LV team having a 2-0 road record to start SEC play is as good as any victory in the Southeastern Conference. Tennessee is loaded. The on-court chemistry is getting better week by week. The system has been adapted to integrate a more natural fit for the players while playing 10-11 players for 4 quarters which is unheard of at a P4 program.
Several players have made significant progress that doesn’t show up in the stat sheets such as Alyssa Latham, Jaida Civil, Deniya Prawl, and Mya Pauldo. It’s almost game-time.
GBO🍊.
