GAME THREAD: Arkansas @ Tennessee, Sunday, 2 pm EST, SECN+

Always like to look at where and what the offense could've done if they had made the numbers that I think they are capable of and the numbers I believe give them a chance to win any game they play.

We ended up 38 percent from the field the number to reach is 45 percent. So if we had made that number field goals become 36. Three point shooting 34 percent if we had made that number three pointers would've been 14. Free throws 75 percent if we had made that number free throws would've been 15.

Total points we score 85. If we had made the numbers for offense efficiency I think were capable of the total would've been 106. So in this game considering the reps we were under 21 points.

Ended up with a 1.04 and making the efficiency numbers would've been a 1.30. For the season were at 1.16 which is very good. SEC play were at 1.22 so we have been making the goals except for this last game. Will add that is hard to lose when you volume shoot like we did against Arkansas. They only shot 27 percent and would've still lost if they had shot 50 percent. To win they needed 53 percent with us shooting 38 percent, 27 three, and 60 line like we did in this game.

Still need that consistent 45 percent, 34 three, 75 line cause were not going to get 81 shots hardly ever when we play. Our average in SEC play is 67. If 67 had been our total today we score 25 field goals for 50 points plus 11 points from 11 three pointers and 12 at the line for a total of 72 points. Still against Arkansas that is a 22 point victory. 67 more probable out total against the top league teams is certainly almost always a loss with the percentages we shot in the Arkansas game.

I will say when we make the numbers assigned even at our average of 67 shots were making 30 field goals which is 60 points and since were averaging 33 threes 34 percent there would be 11 and from the line if were going for 75 percent of our 19 average then were scoring 14 free throws. This would be 85 points scored a total that puts you in any game. Whether it is through volume or percentages I think 80 to 85 is the number were going to need to score against the top teams in the league to win when we play them.

Overall, the offense looked pretty good last night but as you pointed out, the LVs missed a lot of open shots and FTs. What is odd is that they shot better on the road than in this home game.

My worry is that when they have the pressure of playing upper tier conference teams, I don't think those are games where we would expect their shooting % to improve. We are not likely to beat a TX, SC, OK, or LSU if they are not hitting 3s at a decent clip.

This was also another game where Ark broke our press pretty often. They did not make the LVs pay because they often missed the ensuing shots but this game again raises concerns about what could happen against better comp.

Perhaps CKC and staff figured they could win more than they lose pressing against Arkansas.

My opinion is the press will only be successful if the best 5 players that run the press are in the game together. Your always going have some success but give up too many easy baskets. Cooper is best at the point and she didn't play and still had some 10 seconds called. But but Arkansas is terrible at basketball probably worse team in the SEC .

I want to apologize for questioning Lauren Hurst's basketball playing abilities. She has proven me wrong and I'm glad to see it. This girl has game. She has found her niche in the lineup and generally goes in with the second wave of players. She is an unselfish player, always encouraging her teammates and constantly giving constructive instructions on the court. She is no shrinking violet on the court, has a great 3-point shot and gets her share of rebounds. She handles the ball very well and has great lateral movement. I think she can be a very valuable contributor to this team if coach gives her the playing time. I would still love to see her play volleyball too if it is logistically possible.
