GAME THREAD: @ #1 UCONN, Sunday, 1/30, 12:00 pm EST (Fox)

I believe Rickea, who had played an outstanding game, which was forgotten because of the way it ended, fell to her knees at the end. It was heart wrenching, and I understood their emotions because I felt them, too. I
Don't get me started. I was there and it's all burned on my retinas forever. It was actually Jewel who fell to the ground, also poor JP who had just missed both free throws setting up the disaster. JP was mowed over by the SC players racing onto the court to dogpile. Rickea, who almost single handedly pulled off that upset with one of her greatest college games, went around and picked up her fallen teammates and walked them off the court with her arms around them.

Another image of that hellscape moment that I'll always remember, and I think of every time I see SC play, is our tearful, devastated players, led by the always classy Tess Darby, lining up for a handshake line that never happened. South Carolina's players dog piled and then, led by their assistant coaches, raced off the floor ignoring the Lady Vols waiting to show sportsmanship. Only one SC player delayed the celebration to actually go through the handshake line alone. That was Tessa Johnson and it's one of the classiest things I've ever seen a college player do and I will always always admire that kid.

Now, I swear I'm never talking about this again, except to my therapist!

This game didn't ruin my day like I said earlier but looking at the previous Lady Vols results, when we lose it's usually an @$$ whipping...UCLA, Louisville, Mississippi State ( they dominated the game) and now Connecticut..

So going forward when is enough, enough in the teams eyes? You can only take so many @$$ whippings before you start fighting back, hopefully we will be giving a few out in the next month...

Btw: my day was ruined last night when Lakers lost to the Knicks.🤮🤮🤮
Should not run up score on teams than complain
When you're team getting the score run on.
Like in the 97 lady Vols Cinderella season HBO
sometimes you're the windshield
sometimes you're the bug

That's an opinion that pre-supposes that So. Car. was a better team than the opponent.
One could easily argue that the better team won, so that the losing squad performed as one might have expected. Presenting opinions as if the were facts is ok for fan forums, as long as we don’t take them too seriously.😐
Yep, its just opinion that it was a worse loss, considering UConn & USC had far superior talent also which is just an opinion. You may think UT has more talent or SC has more talent all just opinions but I pre-supposed with all the relevant history and talent Dawn's team had, the loss was worse. Especially considering UT was a middle of the pack SEC team that beat Uconn and a Vol team USC handled easily only to lose badly to Uconn twice in the same year at home and neutral court. No big deal just thought it was a fun comparison. I know Geno is up 9 to 5 on Staley but Dawn had won 5 in a row at one time, looked like she had him figured out but like I said enjoy watching these play out and seeing other ppl's opinions.

The problem, as I see it, is to run her system effectively she will need at least 10 equally talented and skilled players. Two sets, each capable of starting. That's a difficult evaluation/recruiting task.
If technology had just advanced enough for Kellie to clone 5 Rickea Jacksons, 3 Jordan Horstons, and 2 prime Tamari Keys, she would have won a NC!!!

I mean ... if you're gonna clone someone, clone five Candace Parkers. Or three Parkers and two Catchings. Throw in a Randall and a Hornbuckle, a Johnson ... maybe finish with a Cait McMahon, who wouldn't be injured because she was a clone. Hell, now we're shopping. Let me just get my clone wallet.

EDIT - Go and and pick up an Ely and a Jackson too.

That is very fair point but I was thinking for ethical reasons, Kellie would want to clone players that she had coached. I mean seriously, if we start letting coaches clone anyone from anywhere, where would we be then. What if Geno decides to clone Candace?
The NCAA needs to get in front of these NILC deals.

While the memory of that game with its chaotic finish is usually accompanied by gnashing teeth, bitterness, and rage directed at the coach, it also brings to mind a classic Peanuts Sunday strip from October of 1969. Linus has just finished watching a great sports comeback on TV and excitedly describes the joyous reaction of the crowd and winners with wild celebrations, jumping up and down, hugging, etc. Linus concludes by saying, "It was fantastic!" Then, in the final panel, Charlie Brown asks, "How did the other team feel?"

While a win would have been one of the greatest post-Pat moments in LV lore, the loss also provided memories to make Lady Vol fans proud...not the least of which was Rickea picking up a sobbing Jewel and saying, "Keep your head up...we got more things to do. "

It's an old cliche, but sports really often does reveal character.

The season Kellie should've went to a final four was Key best season as a junior. That team was 25-9 and the injury bug hit both star players on the roster with Rae in the non conference then Jordan late in the season. Boy had that team been healthy from start to finish I strongly believe that would've been a Final Four team.

I do have a question regarding our poor shooting. We have several McDonalds AA players, and it is my understanding you don’t earn this honor by being a defensive menace. You were an offensive producer in order to attract the attention warranted for the honor. Does anyone know what kind of stats our players had? Were they all just one on one scorers, driving most of the time? Was Mia the only three point shooter? Just curious.

All of our 3 point shooters are around 30% and lower. Mia is the best and is considered fair at this time. Barker probably next but none good enough to shoot 10 a game unless they get hot . Robertson had one big game and hasn't done much since. We probably shouldn't shoot over 20 a game just to keep the defense honest because the percentage just not good enough.

What kind of stats did they have shooting in their high school careers and AAU (talking about our former MCD AA’s). I just keep hearing how we don’t have shooters yet we supposedly have this elite talent. I guess I should google their highlights from their recruiting days.

K train, it’s usually about matchups. SC never matched up well with UConn last year. It is what it is. UT had an awesome game against them last year though and I enjoyed it tremendously.
