Has UT released a statement explaining why Smokey, the cheerleaders, and the band are not allowed on the field? It seems they would be "safer" spread out in the grass than all lumped together in the stands... And, are dogs getting sick?

Regarding Smokey, live mascots aren't allowed on the field this year.

SEC COVID guidelines state no live animals on the field for some reason...think it sucks seeing Smokey in the stands, you should see the lame War Eagle video Auburn is forced to play on the jumbotron this year...sad it is
Thanks, hadn't heard that. Not sure I understand why, though!

The SEC made the call on the bands not taking the field.

They have fudged by 10 to 25% looks pretty full in the bottom bowl upper deck looks 20% or less. This is the only game I've watched that the background crowd roar behind the announcers voices is a normal full blown no corona virus SEC game.
Definitely

I don't think the SEC has an attendance policy. I believe it is up to the city. Trump can't tell America what to do, Lee can't tell Tennessee what to do. It is decided by each municipality. No tailgating on Knoxville owned property. No tailgating on university property. Besides UT still had tickets available.
Go Vols
