Four-star TE Grant Haviland recaps Tennessee Junior Day visit

Tennessee recently hosted 2027 four-star Milton High School (Ga.) standout tight end Grant Haviland for their January Junior Day. Following the stop, the Peach State product went in-depth on the visit with Volquest.

Haviland has been to Tennessee on multiple occasions in the past, and the recent visit allowed him to spend more time around the staff.

“I would say just the people and the culture,” Haviland said of what has kept him coming back to Tennessee. “They are great people. I have great relationships here with them. It is a great program with a long history of success. They use the tight ends really well.”

Tennessee has been clear in their message to Haviland about how they believe he could fit into the offense.

“They think I could definitely fit the offense really well,” Haviland said. “Because I am a pretty polished all around tight end. I can run block and catch passes, run routes, all of that. So they kind of showed me how I could fit into the offense, where I would fit into certain formations, certain plays, but then also just the people here. I feel like I have similar values to them and how Coach Heup runs the culture here. I feel like I kind of fit that well.”

The offensive fit at Tennessee stands out to Haviland because he does not want to be a one-dimensional tight end at the next level.

“I like to kind of polish up all areas of my game,” Haviland said. “I don’t just focus on being a blocking tight end or a receiving tight end. If they need me to block, then I can run block. If they need me to catch a pass, then I can go down the field and catch a pass.”
Haviland is a former teammate of current Vols defensive backs Ty Redmond and Dylan Lewis. He has received plenty of feedback from the duo.

“They have loved their experience here,” Haviland said of this. “They love the people here and the culture, and just how the coaches care for the players a lot. They have said they have already been developed a ton, and they have only been here for two semesters.”
So where do the Vols stand for the four-star tight end early in the process?

“I don’t have any set rankings of schools, but I definitely like Tennessee. I am looking forward to keep building that relationship even more.”

Haviland said he is planning to return to Knoxville in the Spring.
