I think. I could be wrong.Ric Butler on UT pursuit of Latimer
Pretty much piggybacking on Fong’s report. I figured this guy would catch our attention. Better offer list than rating.
Rocky Top Insider is alot like A to Z Sports. They just use other media outlets info and throw it one of their articles. Only difference is Rocky Top Insider actually covers games, practices etcRic Butler on UT pursuit of Latimer

Tried to completely change the identity. You don't go from John Clay to James White to Montee Ball to Melvin Gordon to Jonathan Taylor to Braelon Allen to potentially Chez Mellusi all back to back and then come in and try to make it all this passing and push Mellusi out of the mix lolI am surprised that Fickell has been so bad there so far. I thought he would do well there.
Fickel is (surprisngly) not doing well at Wisconsin, but the dude knows CBs. He evaluated, signed, and developed great ones at Cincinnati. So if he liked Geimere Latimer well enough to take him, I'll trust his eval. We're gonna need more CB depth next year, with the departures of McCoy and likely Gibson.Just watched his tape.
This dude is just as good as Hiter. I can see why Heupel went in on him so early.
Get his brother to transfer to Tennessee.
Geimere Latimer at best could add depth at CB.

The more I think about it, the more I love the idea of signing Amari Latimer in this class. He's a really good RB, but he's not a 5* rated #1 RB in America like Hiter, so he doesn't potentially scare off one of the great 2027 RBs we're in on. He's a solid RB for this class, though, which is what we need. And he's better than his ranking.
Hopefully, he and his brother want to get closer to home. And hopefully that's Tennessee, not FSU or GT.
The "scare of" aspect doesn't necessarily take place during the recruitment, but after they're on campus. Logjams happen and dudes transfer out. If we got Hiter, then DGG and/or Robinson signs, but finds himself 4th or 5th on the depth chart after fall camp 2027, and sees how good the guys are ahead of him, good chance he leaves. If a top 5* RB is scared off by comp then he shouldn’t be and prob won’t live up to being a 5* RB.
The last like 4 classes Bama has signed:
- #3 and #4 RB (one has since transferred)
- #3 RB
- #2 RB
- #2 RB committed
If he’s good at getting talent at CB then hopefully Gemere Latimer starts showing up. Dude played 36 snaps and had half a tackle against Miami of Ohio, no pass breakups and graded in the 60’s. His brother as a RB seems to be much more talented of the two. I don’t care to get Hiter as he’s good, but this dude to me watching is as good playing better comp. Of course I’d be all in on Georges for next year.Fickel is (surprisngly) not doing well at Wisconsin, but the dude knows CBs. He evaluated, signed, and developed great ones at Cincinnati. Hiter is good. I don’t think he’s a 5 star talent. And DGG wouldn’t have been scared anyway imo. Or Robinson .Fickel is (surprisngly) not doing well at Wisconsin, but the dude knows CBs.
