'26 GA OL Brandon Anderson

He was a 4 star and also it was stated he was raw. Didn’t he only play like 2 years of high school ball or something?

And that’s ONE guy. Who are all the others that people keep saying “should” be ready?

The first 3 classes weren’t good. If the 24-25 classes don’t start contributing in the next couple years then you have a more definitive answer.

There just aren’t HS recruits on the roster that should be contributing right now.
The '24 class was Year 3. So you're saying we didn't recruit OL well until this season?

I’m saying we didn’t recruit OL well until 24 class. But the 23 class is still young and a couple of those guys that are left can still turn into starters imo. They just weren’t ready to play early. I wouldn’t be surprised to see those guys playing a lot this coming year

I found actual footage of Elarbee greeting Anderson on his visit. Perhaps this explains a lot:

Not saying this is all on Elarbee, but we have seemed to be missing true development of OLmen. I figure if Heupel wants to keep those big checks rolling in, he will fix issues, so for now I assume he is happy with Elarbee, Will be interesting to see if he sticks with his good buddy if OL development continues to drag.

So a guy who will have 2 years of eligibility left ran off a guy with 4 years plus a redshirt year? Not buying it tbh
With the portal there is no such rule that any players have any years left. The only roster a coach can worry about in this era is the upcoming year. Everything else is fluid.

He doesn't count. Yes, he fits the description of the VFL narrative that many opine for but he didn't perform well enough, so he was trash and needed to go.
? My point was just loading up on the portal clearly hasn't worked good enough. Ask Jack Sawyer and JTT

And Sham was a 4star in the '23 class. He was also an EE. He should be ready by now.
I guess we’ll see in spring ball and over the summer, but on the IOL, it’s probably Moe, Pendleton, Sham and Satterwhite battling for the starting spots. Wouldn’t be surprising to see Moe at C, with Sham and Pendleton at G come fall practice.

Or Sham maybe is the 6th guy playing the Dayne Davis role.

And maybe Karic.

Told Vols 247 that he's still planning on taking his June 20 OV here and also another spring UV before that.

"he intends to take multiple visits in the spring. He's scheduled to travel to LSU on March 9 before heading to Georgia on March 13, and he said he'll be at Miami on March 15. His current plan is to announce his final decision on Sept. 14, his birthday."

"He visited Florida State on Saturday, and he told 247Sports' Zach Blostein after the visit that the Seminoles were one of several teams that recently have shown interest in him, along with Georgia, Missouri, Penn State, Florida and Miami. He told Blostein that Florida State "is in my top three," along with Georgia and Miami. He told GoVols247 that he has already set up official visits to Georgia the weekend of May 30, Florida the weekend of June 6 and Florida State the weekend of June 13 leading up to his planned visit to Tennessee."

If you still want to be recruited and take visits, what's the point in committing?
It's either ingenious or stupid. Maybe an "agent" intervened and pointed out the value of extending negotiations to avoid disappointment and future regret.

What I found the most interesting and humorous about the comments he made when decommitting is that he didn't like that we wanted him to shut down his recruitment. Isn't that what you are supposedly doing when you commit to a school?

I’d take both Kolojay and Papa during his June 20 OV. They both visit as well.

Let him regret the decision.

I think that's a fair take, but Tennessee is also recruiting and offering kids that are committed to other schools, so it's a bit hypocritical to expect kids to shut down their recruitments when committing while at the same time recruiting kids who are committed to other programs.

Yea that’s the game right… but honestly I think this stuff gets cleaned up (there will always be exceptions) when everyone just treats this like free agency and waits to commit until sign the contract. There is no point in doing the old recruit stuff and when you commit you sign and be done. Do away with the this is when you have to sign and instead say, “this is the last day you can sign”… maybe help maybe wont but it will get the kid part out of it because it isn’t that anymore.

Oh, I understand completely how it works and that it goes both ways. It just seems a little odd for a recruit to openly say he basically got offended that the team he is "committed" to asked him to shut down his recruitment and then followed that up by saying there were still some other teams he was interested in. If that is the case, why commit in the first place rather than waiting until you are ready to shut it down? It would be similar to Heupel coming out publicly and saying that he didn't like that a committed player didn't want him to keep recruiting other players at his position and that there were still other players that he was interested in, then pulling the kid's scholarship.

Also, I don't think the points you made make them hypocritical, necessarily. What would be hypocritical would be for the staff to publicly complain about other schools continuing to recruit our committed players while, at the same time, trying to recruit other teams' committed players.

Tennessee pursuing committed kids while asking their own committed kid to shut it down it hypocritical, no matter how slice it. Agree to disagree, I guess. The example you provided is also hypocritical, but not the only possible example of hypocrisy relative to the situation.
