“Simmons has been productive this season for the unbeaten Panthers, who will take on Burke County High School of Waynesboro, Ga., on Friday in Georgia's Class 2A semifinals. In 11 games, he has racked up 54 tackles — including 30 tackles for loss and seven sacks — along with two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and a pass breakup.”

Can he bring their DC along? J/K

What’s the story here? Offer list is pretty weak.
Maybe they don't want to scare off all those 5 star DL they've got lined up in the portal? Besides we're excellent at finding and developing these "diamond in the rough" guys. Plus, they come way cheaper than the 4 and 5 star types. Great get by our staff.

we have missed simmons, omari, and ONL this year big time

I agree, but do you think the biggest drop-off from last year is more so on the perimeter? DT production has been alright. Definitely not the same push to collapse pockets like last year, but how many times have we been gashed with plays out in the flat or runs bouncing outside? McCoy and Gibson were a loss, but our production at nickel and S to assist in that are was pretty bad all season.

Sorry to bump something off-topic, but I was just having a conversation about this the other day. Our overall production on the DL since Heupel got here has surpassed all of my expectations. Hopefully, we can keep Garner around a little longer.

No, it hasn’t. Huge drop off at DT. Huge drop across the line. This defense was terrible. 134 out of 136 and we’re debating the biggest drop??

So, why is Heupel recruiting 3 star projects? As if he couldn’t steal this guy, or another two dozen just like him in 2 to 3 years? It’s a waste of resources, and why I think he doesn’t get it.

🤷‍♂️ My argument was the DT production was "alright". The drop-off from last year is obvious, and that could be said for the entire defense. The argument was also about the weakness of the nickels and safeties as well as the LEOs/DEs outside the tackles. The stats I see have TN defense very much middle of the road in the FBS in opposition rushing. Sacks and TFLs were also top half of the SEC. The passing defense was atrocious.

Or you gotta add a few of these that will hit the portal in a couple years ( like the couple that already announced they are this year that 98% didn’t know were on the team) to make room for portal pickups

Lynx our DTs have been manhandled this year.

It's been by.far the most significant dropoff.
They can't pass rush or plug gaps. Eason and and sometimes Robinson where the only DTs that could hold their ground. Hobbs is decent as pass rushing from the DT spot but he gets moved around easily

I almost agree with everything else you said though
