'27 GA DL Kadin Fife (Louisville commit)

I’ll give you Norman-Lott. Moi wasn’t that good
They expected to redshirt Moi when they brought him in from the portal in 24 and he ended up earning a role and was a solid contributor on a d-line that was stout against the run that season. Last season he was either too hurt to play or was playing hurt. He wasn't an All-American, but he was a solid player.

Sorry, but I don't see the proven players on the DL. Feel free to disagree and list them for me, though. Maybe I'm missing something.
Sure enough, proven they aren’t. But given CRG’s track record in the last 5 years, I’d say it’s not fair to say that who they have there (Weathersby, Norman, Gass, Dye) aren’t capable

New batch of coaches for them to defend. They’re riled up.

Depth issue created by Coleman situation can be mitigated in a few ways:

Jordan Norman being very good
One or more of our underclassmen stepping up
Knowles scheming around it, mainly using a deep LB room

We may find out there were solid contingencies in place to take the risk on Coleman— Heup has always impressed me most in his administrator role.

Possibly will target more in the portal. I know the word was that Fife was closer to the previous defensive staff and the current staff preferred Mays as an early contributor over Fife.

But I didn't say anything remotely close to that, and you tell me "I'm better than that". I'm not sure that's fair.

I'm just saying that we don't know what we have. Yeah, Garner has an elite reputation, but that teaching is going to realy have to show itself because we have very little proven production on that line, and our crown jewel (who himself isn't really proven) is apparently a knucklehead who may never play a down for Garner.

Yeah, I got no issue with cutting bait with Fife if the staff doesn't like him in their system.

Garner stole a bunch of 5 star tackles and defensive ends from us through the Dooley and Butch years. I guess I expected more of that. Outside of Ross, I can't remember a big time Dline commit. I know we have had plenty of four star guys. My point being, it doesn't seem like we've landed the elite of the elite like he did at Auburn. Garner is my favorite assistant coach. He needs to retire or die while coaching from here. I don't want to see him anywhere else. I guess I had unrealistic expectations, but I don't feel like he has landed the same level of guys here. I also don't follow recruiting daily like I did 5 years ago, so I could be talking out of ignorance.

depending on what you mean by "big time" here are the Top 100 players we have signed at DL:

2025: #34 Isaiah Campbell, # 94 Marion Dye
2024: #9 Jordan Ross
2023: #36 Daevin Hobbs
2022: some shmuck down at #173 James Pearce Jr.

At Auburn:
2021: top ranked DL was #105 in the nation
2020: top ranked DL was #91
2019: top ranked DL was #79
2018: top ranked DL was #100
2017: Big Kat Bryant was #189
2016: #6 Brown, #55 Coe, #59 Davidson, #64 Jackson Jr (this was the first full class after their trip to the national title game)
2015: #7, #79
2014: #140

he has had some truly elite classes, but he wasn't consistently doing better at Auburn. his average top recruit at Auburn was #80, at UT #63

I knew someone would have better facts than my gut feeling. He killed us in 13,15, and 16. Big time to me is inside the top 100.

I just took your first statement as pretty negative which you usually aren’t. My point was garner consistently has unproven guys then develops them. Of all positions that’s one where we actually develop year in and year out.

I remember him stealing Lawson and that one hurt.

Brown in 16 I think we were a finalist for, but I don't remember/think we were the final 2 or anything like we were with Lawson.

This.

There was also Byron Young.

That 2013 class of his was ridiculous. I was so mad when they beat us out for Lawson. I had inside info from his math tutor that he was all vol. Smh.
