These high school commits need to see the field asap or all we are doing is becoming a farm system for the transfer portal. Identify high school talent that can contribute immediately and I will accept these commits otherwise pay for players already at this power 4 conference level level of excellence. The coach at Indiana Cignetti describes this ( his recruiting strategy) as production over potential

The Scout

Haley is a long athletic corner who is continuing to evolve as a player.

“Dylan has authentic toughness,” Cherokee Bluff Head Coach Tommy Jones told Volquest. “He plays both ways for us. Being recruited as a defensive back, his ceiling is extremely high. He is long. He has tremendous ball skills, and he has great confidence. For us, he is equally effective as an offensive player. I think he caught right at fifty balls last year for us, and he rarely came off the field. He blocked field goals for us. Just a guy that plays hard all the time and demonstrates the toughness he has.”

A two way player, Jones believes his skillset on both sides of the ball translates.

“Well, I think it only enhances his ball skills,” Jones said of how much playing both sides of the ball helps Haley as a defensive back. “Guys that have the ability to catch the ball offensively, obviously, that translates well to the other side of the ball. I think it gives him confidence and gives him a better understanding of the game and route combinations and all of the intricacies of what it means to play offense, which helps him as an offensive player.”

And at the bottom of all this, Haley is a team player.

“He makes everybody on our team better,” Jones said of how Haley carries himself off the field. “He doesn’t carry himself as being better than anyone in our program. That is really big when you get one of these big-time guys like Dylan. He loves being around his teammates, and he helps develop the younger guys in our program to get them better. He comes to work every day with a great attitude.”

Step 1) Get talent
Step 2) Worry about keeping it

'Everything' about Tennessee led Dylan Haley to Rocky Top commitment

Flowery Branch (Ga.) Cherokee Bluff High School defensive back Dylan Haley is fresh off an official visit to Rocky Top, and he just announced his commitment to Josh Heupel’s program. Haley chose the Vols over Ole Miss and other programs. Prior to revealing his commitment, he went in-depth on the decision with Volquest.

“I would say everything,” Haley said of what made Tennessee the right fit for him. “Really, I feel like it is everything. I really like the vibe, the players, and Coach Jones. That is who I am going to be around most of the time, so that is important.”

Haley visited Tennessee in the spring on multiple occasions, and those visits helped build toward this commitment.

“It was just really (important) to see how Coach Jones coaches,” Haley said of the momentum the Vols were able to build during the spring. “Just being able to see how the players liked him and the way the players like him.”

I say this every time. Give me all the Georgia high school football players you can get. They have great coaches in Georgia, and their players are further along in development on average than other states.

Usually a Georgia 3 star is >= a most other states low to mid rated 4 stars.
