Let’s say the defense intercepts the ball near the offense goal line, the offense tackles the guy and the ball goes thru the the back of the offense end zone. Who’s ball and where is it spotted?

Whole different scenario. I believe that the current rule is a safety, if the fumble occurred outside the end zone.
Isn’t this exactly what would happen at any other location on the field? I have never understood why the fact that the ball happened to roll out on one side of the pylon vs the other should make any difference in possession. I hate that rule.Down it at the spot of the fumble, so the fumble doesn't add any yardage.

I say give a loss of downs and put it back where the previous play started. So if it was a 70 yd pass on 1st down that was fumbled through the end zone, give it back to the offense and it should be 2nd down at their 30. This rule doesn’t seem all that punitive though if it was fumbled through the back of the end zone from the opponents 1yd line.
don't hate that idea either that way it rewards the D by not having a TD scored on them but doesn't totally screw the offenseI say give a loss of downs and put it back where the previous play started.
