I am sure the trustees will consult with G Jones before making any decision.

The UT trustees do not control the UTAD. It is a self governing body. That was by design so the UT trustees would not meddle in the UTAD. It works all too well as the UTAD is full of people thay cannot get rid of, so they elevate them to UTAD administraive positions with huge retirement benefits. My dad is a retired UT professor and has cpmplained about that situation for years.

I wouldnt expect the players to say bad things their coach at least to the press. Fulmer has some tough games ahead. All it will take is losing 2 out of 6. At 6-6 I would not expect fulmer to be back.

u guys are forgetting something, most of the players on this team love fulmer and see him as a father figure. many are here because of fulmer primarily. they dont want to see there coach get fired. i believe that we will see the kind of effort we saw last year down the stretch. it kind of sounds like the team knows they are about to get him fired. i wouldnt want that over my head. its good that publicy we have been able to keep a smooth ship.

The lovefest with Gerald Jones intrigues me. For one, he has never really had that break-out, national headline grabbing game. His stats arent very impressive and didnt he call out the fans a couple of weeks ago, or was that Ayers? I forget.

Add the whole smokin' a doobie with recruits thing and what you have is a player that fans fawn over because of his athletic abilities, not his actual production. he is a legend in East Tennessee and nowhere else.

Thats exactly what we have become, I team that relies on that easy as hell Late October and November stretch of games that includes, USCe, Vandy, Kentucky and insert no-name school.

Furthermore, how have we publicly kept a smooth ship? This is a rough and bumpy as it gets!:lolabove:

:eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol:

Colquit loves him for the six game suspension.
Foster loves him for publicly throwing him under the bus on the missed hand-off/fumble against Auburn.
Hardesty loves him for the lack of touches.
Crompton loves him for benching him.
Warren loves him for the lack of playing time.
I can go on and on. I have a hard time believing that this team will rally for Fulmer's sake. I do however believe that if they got rid of Fulmer right now the talented underclassmen on the squad would immediately begin giving 110% in order to impress their new head coach and get a jump on starting positions for 2009.

As for the publicity, I have not seen any good publicity about this team (other than praise for Berry) since September.

Why don't they give 110% NOW and impress their current coach?

the implication that they don't is garbage and likely spoken from someone who hasn't spent a lot of time around that caliber of athlete. Competitive people work very hard.

So you are, in effect, saying what I have been saying all along. Our players are doing the best they can. It just doesn't happen to be as good as we would like.

yes, but I'd add the caveat that the coaching is failing them miserably.

publicly, there hasnt been anybody placing blame, pointing fingers, or locker room problems. that is good, that shows that they are dealing with it the right way. for now at least. as a person in charge, sometimes u have suspend somebody, sometimes you have to place blame where its due. if a te cant block, you either dont play him or u put packages in where he is used as a reciever. if your a rb, and ur a tough runner but have no vision, u shouldnt be any more than a backup. crompton has not earned the right to get his spot back. fulmer is a good leader and publicly has the team on the right track. it is time he steps down, but people got to quit blaming him for everything.

At $2 Million+ per year, I think I am warranted at placing the majority of the blame at the top.

I can only assume that was a joke because I think that even Fulmer's own mother is calling for him to be fired for gross incompetence at this point.

I am personally convinced that the You Stay, You Play seniority system that has permeated the Fulmer regime retards the enthusiasm and effort that the younger guys are willing to dish out for a Fulmer staff. Additionally, a new head coach might actually believe in coaching up young talent instead of just redshirting it and hoping it will blossom into SEC caliber talent through osmosis over a period of two or three years.

I commend fulmers loyalty to players to a point. Crompton and other deserve a shot. If they cant get it done though thats a different thing entirely.

don't for get ga's coach. he's 3-5 against mark.

that's the problem, the 4 main coaches and teams we need to beat, we can't do it consistantly.
