LSU looked very vulnerable when Arkansas was in the "Wild Hog" Formation. Do you think we will see the G-Gun more this weekend or do you think Fulmer will put it away after 1 run with Jones. I think if we run the "G-Gun" effectively meaning throwing passes in their too, to keep the defense on their heels, we could score alot of points against LSU [if used effectively] which could ultimately lead us to a SEC CHAMPIONSHIP. It's just a thought that I wanted throw out. What do you guys think?

I'm a hugeeee supporter of that idea.

a) My slight man crush (GJones) at QB, and can run, throw, option, etc.
b) Foster could be involved and he's been a beast
c) Wouldn't mind seeing some explosiveness with lennon creer/jones in that...?

No way I want to see a true freshman back there throwing the ball.

he doesn't have to be throwing the ball, but if he runs and runs and runs and there is a guy wide open due to that, i wouldn't mind it a bit

I don't want a true freshman back there against this defense. I love seeing Jones on the field but not at QB against LSU's defense.

he wouldn't be sitting back there to throw short passes to lucas taylor, he'd be sitting back there to have a guy go in motion and make something happen.

You know, I know, LSU knows, the world knows that he will not be a throwing threat, so why bother running it? Outside of La-La, we haven't had much success in running these plays because they are telegraphed and the defense knows they don't have to worry about the pass.

i hope we run it and he scrambles around for a touchdown first play from scrimmage.

then again, i hope we score a touchdown EVERY play from scrimmage

But the kid's gotta be able to throw. the worst play call maybe of the year was when we tried it against cal and ainge lined up at wideout, but it'd be different than that.

Another reason not to run it (esp. if Ainge is lined up wide). Everybody in the stadium knows that Ainge is not gonna be involved in the play at any level. Why risk getting him hurt by throwing a block or getting blasted in a gimmick play?

The kid played QB in high school, so he can throw the ball plus LSU wouldn't expect him to pass the ball.

Actually, he doesn't. He just has to make a zone read and hope the misdirection is enough to create a running lane. I think it's OK to run maybe on 1st and 10 once or twice, but I absolutely hate it in key situations.

I agree.. and i wouldn't like having ainge lined up out there. He wouldn't have to be. there would be a lotttt of possibilities out of that formation.

By the way, were you guys on here fans of that random direct snap to foster in one of the OT's? he had a TRUCK STICK to end the run, but that call surprised me.

If we don't have the confidence to run this during the Vandy or KY games, OR when we are up good on Arky, then I don't want to see it when the SECCG is in the balance.

The only scenario I see myself being ok with this is if we do it on a 2 point conversion.

that close to the goal line would limit the play range i think, but then again we don't need much yardage.

i can't decide if we'll stay somewhat 'vanilla' on offense or pull everything out
(Just so hawaii has stuff to look at on film)

The SECCG is the only game that matters for this team. The Bowl is just a consolation prize. It is time to bring everything.

You honestly believe we have anything to "pull out"?

If we ran the spread and he had more snaps to practice with, then I would be for it (provided it is within the flow of the game). But if we line up in that crap in a 3rd and 4 with Ainge lined up wide, then I will be sick. We simply haven't shown the ability to run that play at a time when it would be optimum. 2nd and 2 would be OK, I guess? Geez... just seems like we don't have any flow or element of surprise aspect when we do it. Everyone will be expecting either a Jones run or maybe (maybe) a pitch. No way we pass it, though.

I remember against cal last year all of us were DYING for that long bomb first play, and got it.
Are y'all wanting that? or are you thinking more.. screen? run off tackle?
pass to arian for a TD after kickoff out of bounds?

We will run the ball straight at Dorsey to figure out what kind of shape he is REALLY in, then go from there.

Foster should be given the rock until he collapses and Ainge should (hopefully) find plays downfield on playaction. I would simply be happy with that.
