Talked to a recruit today who has some serious D1 offers as placekicker. He's met with CTJ and is meeting with DD this week.

Said Darr was a great guy and could kick the crap out of the ball but indicated that
something is going on with Palardy and that he felt like he would be in a position to contribute next year.

Palardy is about two steps away from total bust. He was supposed to be our savior if you read the reaction after the 2009 Alabama game...

I remember there was all this hype surrounding Palardy. I guess it goes to show that you really can't believe the hype.

Lots of opinions here based on a rumor of a friend of a friend of a recruit.

1. There was a lot of hype because he deserved it. He really did look that good.

2. He struggled his FIRST year. As do most kickers. Maybe we should wait to see how he handles starting his second year before we crucify him simply because of the hushed whispers of a random OP. (No offense meant to the OP of course)

This is not a friend of a friend post. I'm too old and could frankly give a crap. I've coached thiskid and I am excited for him. As such, there are alot of things that don't add up with our current kicker. I hope he does great but I thought VN would like to know that we are recruiting a PK very aggressively.

IIRC, Dooley said both kickers were looking really good coming out of spring when asked during media days.

It seems like every time we have a guy start as a freshman he blows and everyone talks about how bad he is...

Then, he magically turns into golden foot when he settles down.

(except for Lincoln.. He pretty much digressed)

Need someone who can get it over the O - line and be consistent inside of 40 yards, anything better than that is a huge step up from the past couple years.

Doesn't he have or had some kind of nagging leg injury. Don't know if that is the case or not, but think I remember something along that line.

I thought he could kick it through the EZ in HS. Kicking from the 40 makes a difference. I don't believe he did last year, but DD talked about wanting more directional kicking.

His run on the fake punt against Vandy was fun. He showed a little speed on that play.
