With all the talk about next years schedules being released. I thought it would be a good idea to talk about 5 home and home series you would and wouldn't like to see.

Would like to see.

1. Clemson.... I've always loved their home stadium at night. That battle of the Orange could be a cool series. Could help recruiting in S.C.

2. Michigan State. Once again I love their stadium. Could be a couple defensive gems.

3. Texas... For obvious reasons. We are the real UT.

4. Washington.. Seems we play someone from the PAC 12 quite a bit. I think this could be interesting. With all the harping about the Vol Navy. Be nice to shut them up.

5. West Virginia... The matchup in Charlotte will be nice. But I think this deserves a home and home.

Wouldn't like to see.

1. T.C.U. Not scared of no one. But damn them boys can put up points.

2. East Carolina.. Really nice home field advantage. But this could be a devastating loss. They should be in one of the BIG 5 power conferences.

3. Boise State... I just hate that blue field.

4. Rutgers... They have a nice stadium. But they are a dangerous team at home. Would be an interesting matchup. But could be a bad black eye if we lost.

5. Maryland... I couldn't stand 4 quarters of whatever God awful uniforms configuration they come up with.

I would hate a home and home with Rutgers simply because they would have to play in New Jersey.

I'd like to see Virginia, UNC, Clemson, Penn State, and Michigan. Glad we get VT in 2016.

1. Texas - always nice to show the world who the real UT is
2. North Carolina - revenge for 2010
3. Notre Dame - we all hate them and it's been awhile
4. Georgia Tech
5. Ohio State

I don't understand how Texas vs. Tennessee hasn't happened.

Both orange

Same logo

Both Top 10 all time

Both UT

...... you literally would not have to market this matchup at all. It markets itself and would sell out at both venues.

What logo are you talking about? I've never known Texas to have anything but the longhorn logo.

Also Texas orange is stupid and ugly!:)

I suggest that we play Tennessee Tech, ETSU, Eastern Kentucky, Murray State...all in Knoxville....every year. Those four are our permanent non-conference schedule.

Rutgers, eh... I seem to remember them being involved in what SI considered to be the biggest upset of the decade (70's).

I would like to see a home and home against Appy State. Given they have been down recently, they just got bumped up to FBS level and it would be a good local team to bring in and a very short drive to a beautiful city for the Fall.

The "What's a Rutgers?" game

I was there for the "what's a Rutgers" game and I was also there the following week when we beat the hell out of Notre Dame. Hubert Simpson and James Berry went off and the Irish and Vagas Ferguson went down. Still one of the greatest games I've ever seen in Neyland stadium from a purely entertainment standpoint. Unfortunately I also saw Hubert Simpson later that night at a club on Kingston Pike and the rest is/was history.

I'm actually tired of watching us tack on another loss outside of SEC play while we're trying to rebuild.
No championship rings for having the hardest schedule.
Until we are back to playing top 5 football with top 5 talent, I'd like to see low level non conference teams coming to Neyland so we can work on getting better, resting starters, and building depth.

Completely agree with you and well said. However, we are going against the grain here as there is still a lot of bravado on here that believe that we have to go get our whoopin's in order to be a better team.

I want it to go back to the rule you had to have 6 victories over div 1(FBS)teams to get into a bowl
