We might as well laugh about his handling of the qb. The whole football world is. Seriously, had Pruitt just been able to recognize that JG lacks some basic fundamentals necessary to succeed and went with kryst the first season then had an open competition afterwards allowing someone else to win the job...how different might the narrative be right now? This is likely his only opportunity to be a head coach and he’s dangerous close to blowing it based off one really stupid decision he continues to stand behind. Hell he may have already lost the opportunity. Recruiting is already suffering g due to it. There were multiple recruits lost due to the uga game. Anyway...

Just want to point out that we didn’t lose any recruits due to the UGA game. Players don’t make lifelong decisions on the basis of a few games. Mims, for example, had been a UGA lean the whole time regardless of what was said on here.

What WILL kill us with recruiting is the overall notion that Tennessee isn’t developing talent to play with the big boys and when we do have talent (our OL) we don’t get results. Cade Mays probably cost himself millions by transferring to UT.

If we’d have done to uga (what they did to us)...I think mims is a vol. Instead there was no question what where he was going. I didn’t even care to log on and see the announcement.
And we also lost the dt from South Carolina and we’ll almost certainly lose the lineback from Georgia to them as well. We can’t win head to head battles against them when they’re embarrassing us in the field. I also wouldn’t be surprised if our best commit ends up ditching us for bama. You have to get results in the field (by year 3) to continue to get elite recruits over our rivals. What in gods green earth is Pruitt doing with Jg? It’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen at Ut. And I’ve seen some pretty damn ridiculous things over the last decade. But this is worse than any decision that butch or Dooley made. To not even try some else even when his own damn players are campaigning for it is mind boggling.

I'm feeling a loss coming this weekend. The team says all the right things in interviews, but their play says apathy has returned. Who can blame them? They are all told each week is a competition for their position, and yet they see JG continue to keep his. They get up and start hard, but after repeated 3 and outs, they just turn the page.

Recruiting is mostly about relationships like it always has been. To assign any other major deciding factor is like assigning human emotions to animals.

Recruiting is about players wanting to go to programs that win. You can talk "relationships" all you want but I don't care how strong your people skills are, if your program isn't winning you ain't getting blue chip athletes. Look at the recent recruiting battles we've been in with Georgia.
