So I took my two boys to the LSU game. A friend of mine here in Birmingham has a friend named Ronnie that does a big tailgate for home LSU games. He connects me to Ronnie and we get invited to the tailgate. Saturday morning Ronnie sends me a map to his location and a brief description of what he looks like. We show up at 7:30 and I introduce myself and Ronnie welcomes us to his tailgate. There are about 30 people there and they were super friendly. They fed us, offered us drinks… really go out of the way to makes us feel welcome.
We end up hanging out for about three hours, chatting with our new friends, taking pictures, just having a really good time. Around 1030 we say our goodbyes and head to the stadium.
So this morning I text Ronnie to say thanks for a great time and included one of the pictures we took together. Ronnie texts back saying he was glad we had a good time but that was not him in the picture! Ends up this was a group two tents over from the real Ronnie that was just messing with us! I don’t know if I’ll ever meet this “Ronnie” but well played sir, well played.

Of all the Ronnies in all the gin joints in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, what are the chances you met not one, but two of them?

Heh.

Glad you enjoyed your trip.

Go Vols!

Didn't the fellow you actually met think it was odd that you called him Ronnie?

Take out the 5% of the fan bases that are just A holes anyway…I’ve found that LSU fans are pretty cool to hang out with. Most are willing to share food too. The fan banter is generally good natured and they love to get you to try new foods.

I have only been there for a night game and the crowd had plenty of drunk hooligans.
They didn't act better when the game was over. The trash talk wans't about the VOLS, it was about me and I was really on edge.
The only place worse for me was the Swamp. My girlfriend and I were pelted with half empty cups and food. the whole game.
In Tuscaloosa, the worst thing that ever happened was trash talk. Never anything personal.

Glad the real fans are better.
