It boils down to coaching and schedules. Tennessee has a tougher strength of schedule but Clemson had to beat a couple good teams prior to the playoffs.

I watch Clemson play often. They are far more disciplined and execute well.

They obviously have a better play caller.

One throng that sticks out is the defense. They seem to be big up front and fast on the edges and line backers. They also seem to play simpler sets than us and rely on their athletes to do their job.

Our guys look lost many times.

I'm a firm believer we are a good coach away from being a contender.

Vic Wharton, Nico Creamer, Preston Williams, Venzell Boulware, Jalen Hurd, Nathan Peterman, Riley Furgeson, Dwayne Hendrix, Daniel Helm, Jason Carr, Paul Harris, Ryan Jenkins, DeAndre Payne, Stephen Griffin, Tommy Townsend, Sheiron Jones, Ray Raulerson, Dimara Mixon.

Am I missing anybody? Yea here's the major difference. Clemson keeps there guys but butchy with his thin skin and over promises has guys bolting for the door almost immediately when they get to Knox.

I do realize that it happens to every college football team but not at the rate it does with Botch at the Helm.

I totally agree about the coaching but not the SOS.

Last year Clemson had the 3rd SOS and Tennessee had the 24th In 2015 Clemson 4th Tennessee 12th. In 2014 Clemson 29 Tennessee 24. In 2013 Clemson 21 Tennessee 33.

Compare the attrition rates between the two schools.

Oh never mind, that doesn't matter - happens at every big-time program :eek:k:

Thank you for posting this, was about to get on the Googler and find/post this information. I don’t know why so many Vol fans constantly want to push the notion of “yeah, but our strength of schedule is waayyyy better, and they don’t play anybody”.....as you’ve pointed out, it’s just not true.

I feel we also have more injuries of the type that keep players off the field for multiple games. I don't follow other teams that closely but it sure seems that way to me. Seems there is always an air of uncertainty at UT these days also. We need to move beyond this ASAP or it's gonna get worse. That really bothers me.

Those that rate the SOS also are the types that rate recruits. Bottom line, many of those that Dabo gets are not overrated and the NFL wants them. Many that Butch got where overrated and for the most part have no future in the NFL. Recruiting ratings are a joke.

Nonsensical.

Poor ol' Butch has bad luck again. His big recruits ain't so big, and Dabo is the luckiest chump on earth.

puhlease.

true, but if these players werent run off by Butch, then there would be good backup depth to those injuries.

So, with this statement, you’re claiming that Dabo actually gets better players across the board than the recruiting services say....while Butch actually gets worse players across the board than the recruiting services say.

You’re saying Clemson under Swinney doesn’t actually develop his players better than Jones.....those wins, those conference titles, those playoff appearances, those title games, that national title means nothing....Jones is just as good Swinney and Tennessee is just as good as Clemson....is that about right???

apparently "dabo" is a better name for a football coach than "butch".
