Fulton vs Powell

No. I have no dog in the hunt. They have SEC caliper players in every class and a great coach.

If they played, I'd be rooting for Fulton.

And Fulton doesn't? Nothing against the kid but a 2 star going to Vandy wouldn't scare Fulton that much. I agree they have a good coach but so does Fulton. Was an assistant for over 20 years and has won a title. What I would like to know is it you've seen Fulton play? I've based my opinion on what I've seen watching both teams. Trinity has proved to be overrated and they Let Brainerd score a couple of times. Granted it may have been a kickoff return or late in the game when things where already settled. It's hard to argue with 161-0 and holding teams under 100 yards. I think Ensworth year in and year out is a better program due to the recruiting but as for this year I say and others like Rivals say its Fulton.

Wow! Where do you get your facts? Trinity is ranked #59 in Superpreps and #35 on Rivals. They are not a top 10 team every year. As for talent, per Rivals; Ensworth has 4 players being recruited and Fulton has 4. I know that senior class but Fulton has juniors who are be recruited as well. Now lets move on to the tougher schedule. Ensworth allowed 13 points to a 3A Brainerd school while Fulton is holding 6A school scoreless. I don't know where you get your facts but you might want to recheck.

You display your ignorance by comparing blowout scores against inferior opponents. Ensworth's first string tailback had 3 touchdowns on 3 carries against Brainerd. Their No. 2 tailback had 1 touchdown on 1 carry. That's four TDs on four carries. After that, it was freshmen, both offense and defense (and Ensworth has a very small freshman class compared to a 4A school). If Fulton is playing freshmen early and still shutting out all of its opponents, either Fulton has an unworldly freshman team, or the teams they are playing against are pretty darn bad. If Fulton has not been playing all freshmen by the second half in those blowout games, then shame on them.

btw, Trinity (ranked number 2 nationally when Ensworth went up to Louisville and beat them) moved down in the ranking since they are 1-2, having lost two close games to two other teams in the USA Today's national top 25 (including Ensworth) . Trinity plays teams from six different states this year, six of which won their state championship last year. Do you really think that Fulton could compete week-in and week-out at that level? I am not saying that they couldn't, I just don't think there are many schools in the entire country, let alone in the state of Tennessee, that could.

Bottom line is that anyone who says they are absolutely certain who would win if Fulton and Ensworth played is an idiot. I doubt there are very many in the entire state who have seen both teams play live this year (and seeing a team on TV is not the same - I laughed when someone said that the Ensworth dbs looked slow on TV - compared to what - NFL and college teams?). Both teams are good and I wish them both well in their respective title quests.

Really? 1st thing I never said Fulton would win without a doubt. So you want me to believe that Ferby only carried the ball 3 times? The score was 14-0 at the end of the 1st. So he only carried the ball 1 time in the 1st? They scored 34 in the 2nd and he only touched the ball 2 times? Per you comment "3 TDs on 3 carries" . And you are telling me that no sophomore no junior and no 2nd string senior played in the 2nd half??? It was just freshman... As for the Trinity game... You know that kid dropped the ball that would have beaten them. Don't fool yourself.

Fulton didn't start off the year based off of what they did in the past they are earning their respect and moving up fast in the rankings. Fulton is shutting out 6A schools, playoff schools. 15 qtrs no points givin up 200-0 in points. I never said Fulton would kill, blow out Ensworth in any way. I said I thought Fulton was a better team this year and I think they would take Ensworth.

And you want to call someone an idiot???

Yeah - Ferby (a senior) carried the ball 3 times for 3 touchdowns. Donovan Sheffield (a junior) carried the ball once for one touchdown. What do you not understand about that?

If you didn't imply that you knew who would win a game between these two fine teams, then I did not call you an idiot. Why u so touchy????? :cray:

Don't play the what if game we are all better than that.

Anyway these are both great teams but if I had to pick a winner I would have to go with Ensworth. I'm sure Fulton has a good coach but I doubt he has the track record that Ricky Bowers has, and yes Fulton has Athletes but so does Ensworth.

No one is touchy! You and Hotty haven't seen Fulton play so you have no idea. I've seen both. You are entitled to you opinion and that is fine. Like I've said before these two don't play and we will never know.

Don't know where the what if statement is coming from but whatever. Two good teams that don't play. I think Fulton wins you think Ensworth wins.

Seeing a team play on TV isn't the same as real life? I'd agree with that. But it's a hell of a lot better to see a team on TV than to not see one play at all. I'm 100% sure you've not seen Fulton play. That comment alone makes you sound rather foolish. You are arguing with people who have seen both play regardless live or on tv. You simply haven't seen both play. Laugh out freaking loud!

That is what I keep asking. You can go to Hudl.com and at least watch some highlights before you form an opinion. I just don't think Ensworth would match up well with Fulton's skill players based on seeing how easy Trinity got behind them so many times. It's easy to say you have speed but I just didn't see it from Ensworth. I don't think they understand about speed. The WRs and RBI from Fulton won the state in the 4x100. Rollins ran a 4.33 at the Tennessee camp. He also won the 100 and 200 state title. Hawkins 4.4!! If anyone watched that Trinity game and thinks that team had that kind of speed is crazy. I say go watch at least some video and form your opinion.

I actually saw Fulton in Cookeville last year - very good team and very exciting to watch. I have not offered an opinion on which team is better - my sole argument is that it is impossible to say definitively unless they play each other. Unfair imho to dis either team, which I feel some on here are doing to Ensworth. Good luck to both teams this season!

I don't think anyone is trying dis Ensworth. I agree that it is impossible to say because they don't play. I gave my opinion on who I thought would win. The original post was about Fulton and Powell. HottyToddy felt like he needed to throw Ensworth into the mix. The only problem is when someone asks who is the best team in the state people automatically say Ensworth. In my opinion that is true 9 out of 10 times.... I just don't think this is one of those years. Fulton is so much better than they were last year. I'm sure we will both get to see these teams in Cookeville this year too!too bad they couldn't add just one more game after all the games were finished... I think a lot of people would show up for that one!

I wasn't the first person to bring up Ensworth in this thread, so don't put this on me.

No the first person just said Ensworth was pretty good. You had to throw out "I doubt they could beat Ensworth" and you followed that up with the "coaching and talent" post. So yes you brought Ensworth into this.

Last years team isn't this years team. I watched last years team thrash Morristown East on the Saturday jamboree they have every year in Morristown. That was a damn fine team. This years team is one of the best I've seen in years. I don't see how you can Judge a team you haven't seen.

Their QB IMO is the key because he's so dang accurate. He also has a mean play fake. Point being, it's nearly impossible to jam the box to stop Rollins because the QB is a real threat. And they do have the horses on the outside to go get it.

They also run pro style. It's so refreshing to see some old school smash mouth with all the spreads being ran.

I don't know what he finished with but Rollins had something like 160-170 yards 3scores on like 5-6 carries in the first half. Fulton beat 6A Farragut 55-7. 18 qtrs without being scored on. Farragut left their starters in against Fulton's 2nd 3rd string and finally scored in the 4th.

Hot damn! I knew they were playing Farragut, also knew Farragut IMO would be their best test to this point. Don't let Farragut's record fool you, they've had a tough schedule thus far, they're a quality ball club. As for Rollins, IIRC the kid was averaging like 18.6ypc prior to this game. This team is gonna massacre everyone they play. Truly unbelievable!

Fulton is ridiculously good this year. I thought the real measuring stick would be Farragut and they fared no better than anyone else.
