Fulton vs Catholic

I know and coached several kids on Catholic and wish them well. But, I really don't think they have a chance.

I just don't see how they can match Fulton's speed and athleticism and would be surprised if Fulton doesn't win by at least 28 points. Probably more like 35 to 42 points.

Wow, way to go Catholic. Almost pulled off a huge upset. Wish I could have seen this game. Sorry for doubting the Irish, I didn't think they could hang with Fulton.

Did Fulton have a bad game or Catholic play great or a combination of both?

Maybe it is not a foregone conclusion Fulton wins the state.

Fulton was banged up a bit on offense, and also had over 100 yards in penalties again. If Rollins is able to play against Giles, that would make a big difference. Smith also has a sore shoulder, It might come down to defense for Fulton against Giles. Tate didn't have a good night either, 12 carries for 26 yards.

Why the penalties all of a sudden. If I remember correctly, they didn't have many against Powell. What are the chances Rollins plays?

Good question. I think they have over 100 yards in each of the last three games. I believe Catholic only had 35 yards in penalties. Makes one wonder.

Big time combination of both. Tate will be a good back but he lacks Rollin-Davis speed. Smith was off tonight big time. But a win is a win. Catholic came to play and Fulton seemed to think this was a warm up. If they play this bad next week I think they will lose. Just one of those nights.

Hopefully it is a wake up call and they got their bad game out of the way. Like you said a win is a win.

I hope so. Offense is still scoring over 40 a game but it's just not the same without Rollins-Davis in the game. Need to throw it better. Smith missed about 4 wide open passes that would have scored. Defense has to adjust faster than halftime too.

Just got back from the game, Fulton's size at the LOS is impressive and no doubt they have speed to burn. However, they have deficiencies in pass coverage and I thought Catholic really took advantage of that in the first half. Fulton looked worn out defensively as well.

It was a great high school game.

Catholic balled out tonight. Great effort. Very well coached team

I agree. Heard someone from their sideline say that was the best they've played all year. And not to take anything away from them I think that was as bad as Fulton has played all year. No one that played in that game should hang their head.

Fulton's 2,000yd rusher who is also a key DB didn't play. Their QB was also not 100% from last weeks game.

Catholic might have had something to do with how poorly Fulton played. However, it is unusual for Penny to miss open receivers, he's looked great all year long.

I'm sure they are mentally exhausted. It's got to be tough being on top and expected to beat every opponent by several touchdowns (tongue in cheek). Seriously though, it can be mentally challenging to be up for every game and not take an opponent lightly.

But, they've made it to the title game. Let's hope for a well played game and much fewer penalties and another title for K-town.

Maybe we'll get Webb, Alcoa, Fulton, West and Maryville to all win - that would be cool.

I'm very tempted to go to Cookeville and watch the playoffs this year. I went two years ago when Powell was in the championship game and it's a great environment. You can hang out all day and watch some fantastic games.

I went to Tech and Cookeville is a neat little town. If you are going, I highly suggest Bobby-Q's for lunch or dinner. It's a small BBQ restaurant that is fantastic.

But - beware, the traffic is going to be bad.

No Catholic played a great game. I am in no way downing how Catholic played last night. All I'm saying is Fulton normally makes those plays. Every team has a night where nothing seems to go right for them.

Unfortunately, weather might have something to do with a well-played game. The extended forecast calls for rain in Knoxville, 80 per cent chance on Friday and Saturday, so Cookeville is likely to also have rain.

60% I think in Cookeville. The rain doesn't play in Fulton's favor but at least field conditions should be better. After 5 straight games (2 in the rain) Fulton's field is a mess. No secret that Fulton is a speed team and weather does hurt a bit.
