Hey

I just got thru reading the sports section in the Tennessean and the moment I read Fulmers comment I said, "what Twilight Zone is he stuck in?

"We're in a battle from top to bottom. Right now I'm more concerned about our football team and winning four games, getting ourselves bowl eligible and finishing up the season the best we can. That has a tendency to take care of a lot of things when you win" - Phil Fulmer

This is like the Captain of the Titanic saying, "we're just going to work like heck and we'll make it port"

Winning four games? Nice even Phil sees we may only beat Wyoming, even that one isn't a gimme!! We are a mediocre football team at best but we are working like heck to fix our problems. We could start by teaching the offensive line how to block their own shadow! We dont deserve a bowl game.

Don't worry, were not making one.

Wyoming has that wild option attack...Could be a long day for us there...I hope not

intellect is obvious in his comments after every loss. For years, he has failed to make one measly intelligent football point after a game. Instead, like some rube, he mumbles about being disappointed and "we'll have to look at the film, and we'll work like heck to get better." We are paying $2.5 million annually to this goober and now wonder why the program is in the toilet.

Here's whats really sad: Had UT eeked out wins against ucla and auburn--really ugly wins of a type we saw last year--Fulmer would be PERFECTLY content this year, figuring that even with blowout losses to our three biggest rivals he'd still get his eight wins and pay raise, still go to some loser bowl--and get to muddle along for another few years. We can be thankful this year is truly bad.

I just posted over on another topic but the coaching styles between Saban and Fulmer was night& day.

Fulmer barely moved, said anything, never saw anyone near him, get upset, just downright passive.

Contrast that to Saban who ran down the sideline, chewed out the DB for a PI call in the 4th. He looked like he was about to lose the SECC on that one call.

Time to retire Fulmer. The majority of UT fans have had our fill of Phil on the Hill.

We have 4 games left, what sort of goals would you want him to have at this point?

Too late to fix anything.

Too late to work like heck.

Too much money for so few wins.

Too much tallet for so little performance.

Did he really say 95 percent of the fans haven't played football, I guess trying to make the point the fans don't get it?

Playing Devil's Advocate here... assuming Fulmer is still on the sidelines next year, is it possible that he can turn things around? Maybe we get a new OC...

Three possibilities:
1) Complete turnaround a la Joe Paterno...
2) Stay at mediocricy a la Bobby Bowden...
3) Next year completely mirrors this year, and Fulmer finally steps down after next season, a la Lloyd Carr...

Unless we get T. Boyd and about 5 more awesome recuits who make impacts immediately, I see the 2nd and 3rd possibilities playing out.

Fulmer can't turn it around. He may have all the desire in the world but he doesn't have the capability. Also, he wants to be the smartest guy in the room so we'll never get excellent assistant coaches.

:good!:I posted the exact same thing on another thread here somewhere else. I said I wonder if he's tired of saying the same thing after every game because i'm tired of hearing the same thing.:clapping:

Did Fulmer bring up 95 percent of the fans never playing football and did he explain why he was asking? Sorry for the repost but it was on a previous page.

How much is Paterno really coaching this year? He seems to be more puppet than persuasion for PSU these days. I would think his OC & DC's are more to credit than anything.

true, but if he sat down in your living room wouldn't you sign the papers right then and there. i guess my point is that he is a great asset

Why would any kid be so quick to sign w/ JoePa? Knowing that he might kill over in your living room at any minute probably doesn't assure anyone that he will be with the program for much longer.

Intellect has nothing to do with it. I stopped yelling on the sidelines a long time ago for two reasons:
1) No one can hear me anyway, and
2) What I think I just say may not have been the case

That's why, to me anyway, talking about anything with any detail immediately after a game is nonsensical. Being on the sidelines is a terrible vantage point from which to watch a football game.
