President Bush sent him a note? Interesting.

ITs sad to see him go, and it is definitely the end of an era. We can only hope Lane Kiffin loves the University half as much as Phil.

I'm trying to think back on the coaching carousel that is college football. As long as I can remember, I can't think of any tribute that has been publicly given to a coach that was terminated. Retired, maybe. But to see ESPN honor a man whose team they've dogged and whose school they've denigrated year after year brings a smile to my face.

If the school ever tries to change the name of Phil Fulmer Way, they'll have to unchain me from the sign. I may not have liked the past couple years' coaching, but he earned that road sign fair and square.

Johnny Majors still has a street, so I doubt they will change it.

You'll never see another coach come close to loving Tennessee like Fulmer does.

Just think.....The Game Maxims doesn't mean anything to Kiffin.

They haven't seemed to mean much to Fulmer lately, either.

that was a really good article. i felt like i was with fulmer the whole time after reading that article. it has a very gloom feel to it, and it's pretty sad.

The Game Maxims are part of TN history. I bet Kiffin keeps the game maxims as part of the pregame rituals.

I hope so but we don't know what Kiffin will do.

Fulmer grew up with the Maxims along with Majors, Lauricella, Holloway, etc... Also, I grew up with them. Before every football game I played (from Pee-Wee to High School) my dad went over the Maxims with me and I will do the same with my son. Anyway, got off track...hope he keeps the traditions that we have now.

Just think.....The Game Maxims doesn't mean crap to Kiffin.

FYP...you kiss your mother with that mouth?

To your point, I doubt Urban Meyer knew very much about the intricacies of Gator tradition prior to gaining employment there, and he's doing pretty well, or so I hear.

Nice read! I don't think we will ever have another coach that leaves here with the emotion of this one.

Whether you loved or hated CPF...the last couple of days have been at least a little emotional

I kiss your Mom's.

To YOUR point, Yes...Meyer did embrace the Florida traditions.
