"It's just a special rivalry and a special game to all of us involved in it in different ways. I'll be back up tomorrow. I'm not down. I just got a lot on my mind right now," Fulmer said.

All joking aside.. what do you make of the is comment and other odd comments made in post game..

Just sounded like something was up.. Most was Same ole Same ole but it had a different vibe to it..

I kind of sensed something was odd too. He could have just been really upset. It can't be easy on a coach to struggle like this and you never know what's going on behind the scenes in some of these guys personal lives. I think fans often forget that the coaches and players are humans too.

yeah of any game this one has to be one that gets to him. look at all the legal crap between him and bama over the last few years. compound that with all the other stuff(teams terrible play) then he probably is out of answers!:shakehead:

yea i'm finally ready to move on past phil but i still have a lot of respect for the man and i hate how this is playing out for him. he has done so much for the program and the way people are treating him and his family is atrocious.

He has millions of dollars to cushion the blow.

I'm thinking all of the pressure of trying to win lately compounded by losing to those stinking Bammer bastards has gotten him to the point of thinking "I don't need this crap anymore". That's what I'd be thinking anyway. I'd just take my millions from the University and say thanks, I'm just gonna retire and enjoy my family for awhile.

Not everything is about money chief. The man has essentially dedicated his life to Tennessee and now people couldn't care less. I definitely think it's time for a change, I just think people should show some class and be more respectful.

If you saw the look on his face tonight when the camera focused on him, you will see that he's about spent. At the end of the game after a screwup by our team, the camera went to Fulmer on the sideline and he didn't even have a reaction at all to the play. He looked like a man that was empty inside and couldn't even muster up a clap or disgruntled face. He has looked this way much this season and I hope it will be enough to push him to retire. He could save his reputation from being tarnished any further if he would step down. He seems to be bringing alot of this on himself because he won't listen to reason and step down. It's hard to believe that he loves the program and has its best interest in mind when he is willing to take it down to mediocrity in order to break Neyland's record. I think he may retire Monday. It sure would allow the fans to focus on supporting the team the rest of the year and Fulmer too.

I think you hit the nail on the head, I watched the post game NC and he did look like a broken man. I believe it is past time for him to step down, but at the same time i must admit i felt sorry for the guy. I know this guy bleeds orange as much as any of us, but i just think he is just out of ideas. (the game passed him by about 5 years ago) If you watched his actions, he knows it. He is a classy guy and a good man, who has done wonderful things for this program. I just hope he steps down soon so I, and most true vol fans can remember him that way. GO VOLS !!!!!!

I have two degrees from the University of Tennessee, chief. I'm tired of my money going straight into the pocket of somebody who sucks at coaching football.

Then stop giving them money. I sure as heck wish we could hire some more intelligent fans. History clearly isn't one of your big impressive two degrees. If it were, you'd know that Tennessee has definitely had worse teams before and you'd realize that what Fulmer has done for the program FAR outweighs the rocky seasons inbetween.

Between indicates something good came, then something poor, and then something good again. That isn't the case. Additionally, Vercinge is one of the most intelligent posters on this forum. And just by reading his username I'd guess that he might actually have some education in history.

I'm not sure what your point is. Are you saying we should stay the course and believe things will return to the way they were in the nineties? This decade doesn't bear that out but that's my opinion. State yours.

The current season would be representative of the poor in that scenario. And that's fine that he's "one of the most intelligent posters on this forum", I was originally simply pointing out that to a man like Fulmer who bleeds orange it's not just about the money. I have no idea why we are even having this discussion...

And yea, I was alluding to his name.
